All the details of the house are amazing: since the furniture until the ceiling. There is a immense library with more than 32 THOUSAND books reflecting this intelectual and studious man who Rui Barbosa was. And the gardens in front and behind of the house are really cute. I just can't imagine how people coud live in such hot place... More

Mosquito repellent is a nice tip. Go by metro, it is close to Botafogo Station. If you are hungry, Deli Delícia is a nice place very close. Guided visits in portuguese are available, check the times of the tours by phone previously. Don't miss the garage with 4 cars.

It's a good place to visit. It's good in a rainy day. The house is very luxurious but there's some rooms closed :(

A wonderful home that fully reflects the complex man who had such an immense impact on the Republic. The pleasant garden and grounds offer a welcome respite from the noise and bustle of Botafogo. The Museu do Indio is only a few blocks away

The luxury house fights to keep yourself standing in the overwhelming tropical heat, not to mention that also holds the low cost of small budget left by the government and the symbolic entrance. Amazing character was Rui Barbosa, more impressive than I imagined. Lots of good furtineture for that period. A small shop mainly for good readers, the coffee shop... More

My 7 year old went on a field trip and really enjoyed it. Among other things she said the owner was a short man who likes to write. Also "I think he's rich!". Plus, she saw the bed he died in! A fun way to end an educational field trip!!

Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night.
