Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

A bit far from downtown or other famous beaches such as Ipanema or Copacabana. This beach is ideal for surfing and for people who love nature. There are a few local bars which provide some food and drinks. Beware of strong currents, it's a high surf area.

The beach is nice, hot and sandy. The hill separate it from Ipanema beach. The beach is smaller than Ipanema and Copacabana, not so crowdy, more silent. Liked everything, no dislikes. People there is very nice.

we came by here but we were unable to enjoy this beach as parking is very limited so you need to come here very early if you want to have a change to visit. there is no public transportation here.

For surfers, this is definitely the best beach of Rio, with good waves all year round, except in January, at the height of summer. It is a conservation area, with no buildings around you, only the White Rock Mountains, which make it specially beautiful in a quiet day, but there may be too many cars, particularly in the weekends.

Take a car, drive from Copacabana or Ipanema beach, all way along the shore, looking beyond the horizon sea, listening bossa nova music and you feel the spirit of being Carioca native. Leblon, São Conrado, Barra, Praia da Macumba and you reach there, Prainha Beach. Don not forget to listenig also Tim Maia singing "do Leme ao Pontal". Do not... More
