We choose Isabell for a tour of the Favela based on TripAdvisor feedback and had a very enjoyable morning. Isabell is extremely knowledgable about the history of Brazil, Rio and the Favelas. We felt relaxed and safe for the whole time and Isabelle's tour completely changed our opinions of life in the Favelas. We really enjoyed the stories and exposure... More

It was absolutely great and there is a great view. It is very well explained. You really understand how the Favelas were created and how they live. Before I thought that the people who live in the favela were dangerous but now I know that they are people like us. Our guide was superbe. The visite has learned me a... More

We did a 'half day', ended up full day, tour of Alemao favela. Isabell is a German lady who has lived in Brasil for 10 years. She is so passionate about the people who live in the favelas. You get a walking history of the area, the neglect by government who consider them as non citizens. They are working class... More

We visited Cantagala and Pavao favellas with Isabell one Saturday morning. She knows both very well as she lives in Pavao. These favellas are old and very safe as they are inhabited by working class poor who earn a living in the city below and struggle to be recognized. With Isabell, we walked for more than 4 hours, visited bakeries... More

My family and I wanted a private tour in Favela. We chose Isabell Erdmann through Tripadvisor. We meet her at the bottom of the lift to the Favela; she was likable, trustworthy and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the people living in the favela. We spent 2.5 hours with her and it was very very good. Isabell gets our... More

Simply fantastic. It was very insightful to explore not far from the shiny pathments in Ipanema - another side of Rio - culturally very rich and with a fascinating history - which Isabell brings alive in her wonderful tour. Isabell is a very inspiring person who does a great service to her community. Just go!

My girlfriend wanted no part of my idea of spending a couple of nights in a Favela. In the in she gave in to my pestering and agreed to stay as long as I didn't tell her anything about it before we got there - she didn't want to scare herself out of the idea! In the end she was... More

The group I travel with consists of "tour junkies". We have enjoyed tours of a wide variety of places and attractions. We all agree that a good tour guide is the key to our experience on a tour. Isabell is very engaging, very knowledgeable and is part of the communities she is describing during the tour. Though the favelas on... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
