The views from up there are amazing! We went in a nice sunny day and everything was beautiful! There is 2 levels the second is the best! You can walk all around and enjoy the views. We went with a tour guide and it was nice to hear the history. Bring water,it was hot and only one gift shop and... More

We arrived at a time the line was not long, but advance planning would be needed for busy times. We spent several hours admiring the view from every vantage point. Taxis were readily available upon our departure.

We struck the weather really well yesterday and headed up to Sugarloaf early in the morning. The views were absolutely spectacular and we enjoyed every minute of it. We caught the 581 bus from Copacabana which dropped us off just around the corner from the lift. The bus driver was really helpful and told us where to get off. Nice... More

Make sure you do this in a sunny day. Some people prefer to go at the end of the afternoon to see the sunset and after the evening lights. Take your own water and a hat. There is a lot more space on the top than at the Christ, you can walk around, no hurry to get down.

Going early in the day is a must, beat the queues and have a coffee at the top! The whole experience was easy to use and very accessible with the cable cars. At the summit is a wall where you are encouraged to leave a message and having a coffee whilst taking in the amazing views of Rio de Janeiro... More

A fantastic afternoon spent on the cablecar up to the Sugar Loaf. The views are utterly stunning across the whole city, the coast and back to Cristo Redentor. Lovely to walk around at the top and stretch the legs and just drink in the scenery. Probably my favourite day of our 4 in Rio. Sugar Loaf is wonderful thing to... More

Although you won't have a complete view of Rio de Janeiro, Pão de Açúcar will certainly give you an excellent pick of the most famous and attractive part of the city. And as a plus you'll get to ride the cable car, famous for one of James Bond's movie scene. It's safe to bring the family and you won't experience... More

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
