This is noe og my favorite places in Rio, it is calm and relaxed and perfect place for a romantic walk among all the wonderful flowers and plants.

Great place to go for peace and tranquillity. Easy to walk around and interesting plants. Not a great welcome with a 'on cell phone' uninterested person to buy ticket and officious ticket collector. Got better once away from people.

We went rather late in the day, and as this is Brazilian winter, there was less to see than in the flowering season

Beautiful sceneries, animals and flowers and exotic trees. Only 15 reais, nice way to spend a morning/ afternoon. We decided to walk there and it wasn't too hard to find, lots of signs starting at Ipanema beach.

A veritable ecologic sanctuary with its lovely Imperial Palms and the home to 8.2 thousands species of plants. The King John VI of Portugal founded it in 1808 and his purpose was to acclimatize species like nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon imported from the West Indies.

I agree that morning is best as it can get hot. There are picnic tables in the children's park, but those fill up quickly and people leave their stuff there to claim a table. You can't sit on the grass outside of the... More
