As we walked down intimate alleys between buildings and shops and under sagging power lines, I wondered about the lives of the people living here and Rocinha and for that matter all the other 750 favelas, especially the children. . Do I regret going? NO!...More

Highly recommend to gain a deeper understanding of social divides in Rio. Can honestly say I'm glad I visited and saw a different side to rio that I would not have seen otherwise

Visited the favela with our guide and felt quite safe, even in the back alleys. People appeared very friendly. The Main Street was very crowded, but it was the narrow back alleys that were so interesting. Must visit locale, but I would not do it...More

It was my last day in Rio and I got to visit the Favela. I did not follow a tour because they required at least 2 person to form a tour but I was just travelling alone. If there is just 1 other person who...More

I liked the tour, it was very informative since the "pacification". Place was brightly painted and lots of cables everywhere. Was able to tour one of the homes as well as check things out from a roof top. The open sewer was pretty gross, but...More
