Isla Negra was an easy and enjoyable day trip by metro public bus from Santiago. Pablo Nerudas house was as gorgeous and interesting as everyone says. The view of the beach and waves is superb, could stay all day walking and watching birds and waves. Keep an eye out. From Neruda's bedroom, the lucky reward included a really active dolphin... More

We happened to visit here on a weekend right before a national holiday (May 1). That resulted in a whole lot of people wanting to see this place! The staff still handled it well but there was a bit of a wait. I would suggest going during the week if possible. There are audio guides in several languages Spanish, English,... More

Most people come here by car but you can do a half-day trip via bus. From Valparaiso you take the bus from the terminal, buy the ticket at counter 8. They leave every hour. I took the bus at 8:05 am which allows you to be at the museum at 10 am. Tell the driver to stop in Isla Negra.... More

Beautiful place and my personal favourite of the 3 Pablo Neruda houses. Kudos to the Pablo Neruda Foundation for doing such a good job in maintaining all of his houses! (:

Amazing home of poet Pablo Neruda, in a glorious setting with ultramarine ocean and waves crashing on the rocks. The house is a series of rooms designed to make you feel as if you are on a boat, it houses Neruda's many faceted collections be they of glassware, ships figureheads, musical instruments, butterflies - an amazing array of beautiful objects... The Chilean poet laureate Pablo Neruda was an eccentric and extraordinary man. This home reflects his personality. He was a collector of people and things, and guests visiting the home will get a glimpse into the whimsical mind of one of the world's most beloved and most translated poets. Don't forget to visit the artisans who set up tables outside... More

Of his three houses, this one is our favorite. Situated on the Pacific coast where the waters are deep and the coast, dotted with large rocks, the sounds of the waves resonate Neruda's verses.

Decided to do a day trip from Valparaiso to Isla Negra to see the house of the famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. Figured a house is just a house....right???!!!! Boy, I could not have been more wrong....it was fantastic. I am usually not one for audio tours but this one was exceptionally good. The location is something else, and to... More
