One feels like traveling back in time visiting the old city and its market. No matter how tired I was, it was worth the effort

A bit disappointing. An old (replica) town, which is a bit cheesy in places (the prison with decapitated bodies strung up on crosses, an old (tv prop?) airplane that was going nowhere) and tired, but I suppose it does give you a feel for life...More

The fertile Dunhuang oasis has long been a refuge for Silk Road travelers. Most visitors stay long enough just to visit the forts, towers and magnificent cave temples that are now scattered over the surrounding area.

A third rate recreation devoid of any character or charm. Hot & dusty. The only saving grace was the wall surrounding the "old" city. It was the only thing that was remotely impressive. Definitely not worth the admission price of 40 yuan.
