Next to the caves, in a modern exhibition hall, this Center provides all you need to know on the Grottoes. Comprehensive and clear explanations, most of them bilingual in Chinese + English. Well worth spending at least 1h at.
A great deal of the museum deals with the preservation process over the years. There is also some information about the techniques used to build these caves including how they made color pigments. Quite good and you are out of the sun for a while.
