This museum has some gems. There are a few pieces by famous artists (Stella, O'Keefe, Gainsborough). We also really liked the large collection of African pots and the Wedgewoood collection, in particular the 1960s and 70s stuff. It's free/you can donate on entry.

It's an interesting art museum with collections of paintings and ceramics and even dinner plates and cups. The European section was really good, but that's my opinion. The free parking and admission make it an easy choice to go for an hour.

Good way to beat the heat (and humidity!) in Birmingham. Great collections spanning several eras and continents. Sculpture garden is nice. A good way to spend an afternoon.

Bart the art bat is amazing. great projects for little hands that want touch! Workers and volunteers are always kind, even when my two year old goes running way too close to an exhibit.

I enjoyed visiting the Birmingham Museum of Art many times, and recommend it to visitors and residents of Birmingham alike. The regular offerings range from modern to ancient, and the museum has a great track record of bringing in really excellent visiting exhibits.
