This modern, well laid out museum, gives an excellent insight to the history of the peoples and places of this fascinating area of China. Well worth a visit and a welcome respite from the summer heat!

A well laid out museum with some very interesting pieces and good displays but you do not need long here and can easily get round in 1 - 2 hours.

Since we went to Turpan in April/May of 2015, we didn't make the grape season and missed going to the vineyard. We traveled from Dunhuang to Turpan on our Silk Road tour and really enjoyed this museum. They did a wonderful job with the displays...More

Very interesting, good displays, explanations even in English. Mummies preserved in the dry desert, Good information and artefacts of the different empires. Hall with dinosaurskeletons and dinosaureggs special nice if you travel with children

For turpan`s hot weather in the afternoon paying a visit is ideal activity to do. It is cool inside and lost of display. You need to bring your passport to go in. You can take photo in side. No water or any dringks not allowed....More

I am not a big fan of museums, but this one gives you a nice overview on the former silk road, historic places in the area and some of the key developments over the thousand year's history. Great to stroll through.

The museum is clean and new. The displays is like the other museum, but they have fews mummy which stole my interest. Mummified things always amazed me, after buried hundred to thousand year, the bodies are still in a good condition.
