An amazing school with a shop that sells student work, along with the work of master level embroidery artists. Work has to be seen to be believed.

The school teaches handicapped and other out of work people how to do intricate, delicate embroidery and then, under the supervision of masters, has them do pieces for sale. I loved this place and found a perfect souvenir of the trip. It was expensive but...More

Although not really into embroidery it was fascinating to see the end product. Some of the works by the 'master' are really stunning. Unfortunately they were out of my price range otherwise one would be adorning my wall as I type this but the memory...More

Must see to enjoy this wonderful work and also must buy a piece of history in the making. Paintings by silk embroidery and meet the master. Take home this dying art form to live with your family forever.

Our group was so fortunate to visit the Baisha Naxi Embroidery Institute. To see embroidery students dividing silk into a possible twelve threads was amazing. Their work is for sale and highly recommended.

Loved this small institute which had lots to look at as there are several exhibition halls. While there are many things on sale and the prices range from moderately expensive to extravagant, if you really want something try to bargain and think that it took...More

This is well worth a visit. Incredible artistic skills are being preserved and come prepared to spend some money. The people were lovely and the in house guide spoke excellent English and explained it all really well.

The Naxi Embroidery centre and school is a celebration of a local tradition that has been in existence for hundreds of years. The embroidery is skillful and detailed. The centre has four courtyards and you can see work from students and teachers. Very interesting, especially...More
