In the central part of Croatian Adriatic, near where the Sibenik and Zadar islands meet, is a distinctive and, in many ways, special group of islands called Kornati. Due to their magnificent landscape beauty, interesting geomorphology, the great indentation of the coastline and wealth of living marine ecosystems, the majority of the sea area of the Kornati archipelago was proclaimed a national park in 1980. It includes a total of 89 islands, islets and crags, with approx. 238 km of coastline.

A glorious day out in the Adriatic, and barren Kornati Islands

After a day of heavy rain, the next day the weather was fine and the sun shining brightly, and we chose rather than to explore more of the sights in Zadar, to spend a glorious day... read more

The best advice I can give is to hire a private boat and skipper to tour the Kornati Islands, otherwise you will waste your time and money. We made the mistake of joining the yellow "Leut" boat tour which has kiosks all around Zadar (their pamphlet is blue writhing orange writing and says "Excursions Kornati m/b Leut" and underneath is... We were told that trip will be from 8 until 17.30. We left the Zadar area an hour later, as we made 2 more stopps before going towards Kornati. The breakfast that was announced before was a wrapped sandwich (only ham+cheese), bought the day before, and no drinks. The professional tour guide was a Croatian lady who could speak a... More

My family and I had booked a trip with this group on 27th March. However, the trip was cancelled without any information to us. The even had my number to contact me but no one bothered. This meant that our day was wasted since we had to try and arrange something in the last minute. Thankfully we did. When it... More

This has by now been the most ultimate experience of isolation and remoteness of any place in the world. I can easily imagine living on one of the islands having a boat and some money to get by. The place is definitely worth seeing for its uniqueness.

This was the highlight of my trip through Croatia. By boat from Zadar it took about an hour to arrive in Sali. Here I was able to rent a bike and I was off to the national park. I don't remember the name of the place we rented the bikes from, but it was right by the main dock. A... More

I visit Kornati very often. I am sailor, skipper so I just love this untouched part of Croatian Coast. I have a story for each of the islands, but all together I can say that they are a sailors and a divers dream. Wild, blue, windy and beautiful handful of rocks thrown in the sea.

I wanted to go here and you are just allowed thorough a private boat or a tour! IT IS AMAZING THOUGH!! I was so in love! if you want to go to a similar place go to sali and walk 2 hours from the lake in the national park to the private sand beach! it is such a great place!... More

KOrnati Islands are part of National Park Kornati and are beautiful and one of the most beautiful place for sailing and spending time in green and blue. Pure nature with crystal clean water, dolphins and unbeliveable fresh food in small restaurants around. Not to miss

One of the most beautiful sailing places in the world. Untouched nature with crystal clear water. Incredible family owned restaurants with fresh seafood. Can't wait to sail the Kornati National Park again!
