The Wall of Motovun is one of real example how is a city developed on top of a high hill. 277 meter-high hill gives you breathtaking views

The old well is located in the main square near St. Stephen's Church. Nicely decorated on the exterior. You cannot miss it. Very much a part of the history of this wonderful hillside town.

The water well is in the square near the tower. It used to collect rain water and then the people of Motovun would bring the water up by bucket.

Nice to admire but it was not outstanding. Outside the church inside the square. A nice gathering spot.

That the Ancient Well in the Town Square, Motovun, Croatia has survived for centuries is a wonder. Motovun, Croatia is one of the ancient cities of Istria, and merits a visit.

It's a well in the middle of the main square, just in the front of the church. Underneath the whole square is a giant tanker that used to serve the whole town with water

Enjoyed seeing the little square this well is located in. It's interesting to imagine how deep it must be to be able to draw water up into this very high hill town. Possibly leads to a cistern? You can miss strolling by it in your...More

I know some will think "it's nothing" an old well head in the center of a town square but here's the thing, this meant LIFE. Motovun, to the best of my knowledge and that of the tourist board, has never been captured by an invading...More
