I did the El Altar Trek it's a moderate hike of 2 days or 3 depending on the itinerary... about 6 hours per day hiking (if you do the 2 days it's the same way to return). Amazing, just amazing spot, well worth the (exhausting) trip to get there... So beautiful! But your bum will feel the horse(mule) ride...

500 BC, was the world's largest mountain, is an excellent place to get in touch with nature and away from civilization. Here you can go climbing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, etc.

I would highly sugguest it. Bring boots because in rainy season there is knee deep mud. However it is completely worth it. Amazing views. One of my favorites from all of south america
