We had a fantastic albeit brief foray into the desert (only two days, 1 night) with Badr and his team over new years eve/day. They showed us the most fantastic time, our 3 boys said it was the highlight of our holiday in Egypt. Food and accomodation were excellent (especially the food!). Badr was a brilliant host and even brought along some sand boards for our boys to try sand boarding - a highlight (see photo).
There was a complication on the way back to airport with a road being closed but Badr moved mountains to get us to the airport on time, driving an extra few hours through the desert which he obviously knows so well as others drivers followed him to find this alternative route.
The only disappointment was we hadn't planned a longer trip - this is one our family will never forget.
thanks.

If you're looking to walk on the floor of the ancient Tethys sea now covered liberally with marine fossils and vast expanses of ever moving sand, the Western Desert of Egypt is for you. There is no better organisation to take you there than Western Desert Tours whose representatives share their deep belonging, respect, knowledge and heartfelt need for their dramatic, pristine scenery. Khaled, our guide and driver introduced us to his space with dedicated care for our wellbeing and shared generously his information gleaned from a lifetime connection to Abu Muharriq Dunes, Wadi al Hitan and vast area of rocky outcrops while spicing our lives even further with dramatic dune riding in the 4 x 4s. Omaa created outstanding Bedouin breakfast and lunch with a nightime meal cooked in the hot sand from the wood burning fire. Omaa sang occasional bursts of Bedouin song as his went about his work while Khaled drove the second 4 x 4 and appeared never happier than when zooming across the sand sea. There are a lot of vehicle journeys, the distances are vast. Khaled fixed mechanical needs, energetically covered all physical tasks and radiated joyous living. Western Desert Tours have an essential 'no trace left' policy to protect their environment, so leave no evidence of burnt wood, plastic bottles, toilet paper behind and you wouldn't want to. Only one thing to beware of and it's this. The Western Desert of Egypt is addictive. This trip resets your life. I can't wait to go back and Western Desert Tours will take me.

Khaled took us on a fantastic 4 days 3 nights tour through the western desert. Khaled suggested a trip to Abu Maharik Sand Dunes and Djara Cave. We travelled through this breathtaking landscapes with two land cruisers. We were picked up from Cairo Airport. we camped in the desert for two nights. We were served fresh and delicious foods 3 times a day. The breakfast was superb. We were introduced with various kinds of fossils and stones. The Djara cave was magical with stalactites and painting from stone age. Every evening ,the milky way cast a spell on us. We have decided to tour with them again. The Chef was amazing. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Excellent experience in the white desert with Loly!
We left for two days with Loly from Cairo and were able to enjoy the white and black deserts.
Loly is very caring, my wife was pregnant at the time of our grinding and he took it into account so we could enjoy it safely.
The accommodation for the night was very comfortable, the food excellent!
Spending the night alone in the middle of the desert, with sunset and the appearance of a fenek at nightfall was the highlight of our trip to Egypt!
Thanks to Loly, Walid and Omar!

Khaled took us on a fantastic 5 days trip through the western desert. We were travelling with sheik Ahmed, the mechanic, and Goma, the cook, and two vehicles - an indestructible Toyota Landcruiser and a Hilux. Since the white and black desert can be a bit busy during high season, we wanted to go off the beaten track and Khaled suggested a trip to the Abu Maharik sand dunes and Djara Cave. We travelled through this breathtaking landscapes without seeing almost no other vehicles. We got served delicious and fresh food 3 times per day, got interesting insights into the geological features of that area - we found tons of fossils and also prehistoric tools - and enjoyed quiet nights at the campfire and realised how small we are in the infinite universe..
I can highly recommend to book a trip with Khaled and his crew. It was an unforgettable experience!

We booked me and my girlfriend the excursion with a night in the white desert and we loved the excursion from A to Z. The meal at loly and the welcome were great. The transport was very comfortable (air conditioning and fresh water). Most importantly the landscapes were impressive and unique. We did this tour in August so there were few people which added something even more at that time. The night under the stars in front of the most beautiful sky we’ve ever seen with the Milky Way visible was great. (With the foxes and little mice we could observe) I put you some pictures I took so you have an idea of the atmosphere. Finally the guides were great (harmat and foli sorry for the spelling) and the meal they made us in the evening was delicious!

My wife and I had an incredible experience with Western Desert Tours going for just a 2-day/1 night tour. Wow... it seriously looked and felt like we were on another planet. The desert was so beautiful and so unique. Our guide and chef were amazing. Camping out under the stars in the desert will be a memory we cherish the rest of our lives. Thank you!!!

Thank you Loly Gamal for the breathtaking experience in the desert!
It was the first time I went in a desert and the programm of our 2 days in the desert was awesome for this discovery. The athomsphere during our 2 night in the desert was enchanting and an unforgettable experience. Both White and dark desert are fantasitc and the variety and beauty of the landscape in them are increadible. The camps are confortable and the desert guide is very friendly and welcoming. I would come back to egypt just for an other desert trip like this one.

Hamuda, Rada and Mohamed were great companions. They had it all set up in camp by the time we got there from our routes. The food was exquisite, very plentiful and varied. In addition, every night we were entertained by wonderful concerts.
I don't think there are better companions to visit the White Desert

What a trip! Absolutely amazing. The solitude and scenery was incredible. A trip to the desert is a must to appreciate Egypt. High recommend Western Desert Tours. Highly professional organisation from booking, trip and service. The food was the best we had in Egypt. We were a family with an 11 year old daughter and the desert was a definite highlight of our trip.

Hi, is there a tour that includes going to both the Siwa Oasis and the White Desert?

Hallo!
Ich weis das Touristen zur Zeit keine Erlaubnis für Reisen in die Weiße und Schwarze Wüste erhalten. Wie wird das von allen Anbietern die hier ihre Touren anbieten ermöglicht?

My parents and I are interested in riding ATVs through the desert. Would this be possible? We are planning to visit mid-April.
Written 28 February 2018
Hi Sylvia,
Yes it should be possible. I was there in mid-march and it was fantastic. the weather can get windy though it could get sandy everywhere. But these guys are the and they will take great care of you people and ensure you get the best of the black and white desert. the journey time from Cairo to the desert area is significant so youll have to put aside atleast half a day for getting there and half a day for coming back. The food we had at the bahariya oasis was the best i ate in all of egypt! If you have more particular questions, please ask me and i would be happy to help if i can. Not exactly sure what you mean by ATV though, do you mean you want to ride the vehicle yourself?
Written 5 March 2018
Did you have the opportunity to ride personal ATV's?

Are there pick ups from Cairo to Siwa Oasis? If yes, how much is it both ways?
Written 6 December 2017
They will usually pick up or take you wherever you want if they can. It might cost a bit more but they are accommodating.
