For us, visiting the Western Desert while in Egypt was an absolute must and it did definitely not disappoint: The landscapes are incredible, the nights among the calmest and the night skies among the most beautiful we have ever experienced!
We can warmly recommend booking your trip with Loly and his team. From pick-up at Giza train station to drop off-back in Giza 4 days later, the entire trip was perfectly organized. Loly was always quick to reply and we very much appreciated his clear way of communicating.
We had a really great time in the desert and our guides Fuly and Midu made this experience one of if not the highlight of our 3-week trip through Egypt. We enjoyed the discussions and the evenings playing cards together a lot and the food was delicious!
PS: Don't underestimate the value of the included shower once you're back in Baharyia at Loly's place after several days in the desert. The facilities are very well maintained!
Tips:
- If you have the time, go for the 3 nights / 4 day option! Every site is unique and well worth visiting, we are extremely happy with our decision to have gone for this option.
- Enjoy the sunrise / sunset on top of one of the numerous hills around your camp. We always found one that's easy to climb up to in 15 to 20 minutes. The views up there are simply stunning!

Our family of 5 did the 3 day/2 night trip into the black and White Desert with Loly and his nephew last week and it was beyond our expectations!! First of all, Loly was kind and easy to communicate with via WhatsApp when we were planning the trip. He’s even kinder in person! It was a pleasure to meet his wife and children, his wife’s cooking was phenomenal and a great way to begin and end the trip. We have some gluten free people in our family and Loly and his wife went out of their way to research our dietary needs to make sure we could eat safely— much appreciated! The desert itself was stunning, every second more beautiful than the last. Our days were a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure with Loly taking care of everything so we could just enjoy our time together. Our family has been traveling the world for 5 months and this was our favorite experience yet. We HIGHLY recommend booking your desert trip with him, we feel so fortunate to have met him and his family.

We just returned from a truly memorable trip of 3 days/2 nights to the Black and White Desert with Loly and his team. The experience was just amazing! Stunning scenery, delicious meals, sharing stories around the camp fire. Everything was so well organised. My son and I will be dreaming about this trip for a long time. It was the highlight of our trip to Egypt. Loly, thank you for sharing your beautiful desert with us ❤️

The full-day White & Black Desert tour was an unforgettable experience. Loly and his team took great care of the group and respectfully provided comfort, safety and an overall unique adventure.
After the private transfer from Cairo to the Bahariya Oasis, we had a delicious lunch before the 4x4 jeep arrived to start the desert journey. We stopped at the Black Desert, a natural spring, Crystal Mountain, the Agabat Valley, sand dunes (for sandboarding!) and many different parts of the White Desert including the famous Mushroom Rock.
The night at the desert camp was definitely magical. After sunset, we had a Bedouin dinner cooked over the campfire, stargazed the Milky Way, and comfortably slept in the tent until a beautiful sunrise, big breakfast and other stops on the way back.

Every last detail was amazing. Loly and the team are super professional, courteous, and great English speakers. Even more importantly, they are masters of the desert and gladly take you along for the exhilarating yet meditative ride. The only regret I have is not booking another night, or 3!!! Definitely do more than one night. Make the time in your schedule, and Loly and the team will ensure it’s worth your while.
Our group was huge, with 11 total including 2 seniors, and 2 small children and an infant. The team took care of every last member with care, including our vegetarians. The cooking was incredible and homey, flavorful and authentic, and very hygienic.
This tour is great for those who have experience camping and want to get their first taste of the desert, or in our case, a welcome return!
Thanks to Loly, Fouly, Friday, and Miro for letting us re-live our fondest memories, and for introducing our new family members to the magic of desert camping.

This was the most amazing experience. Loly and medu were just amazing guides.everything was soo professional. The start of our trip was being collected from cairo by Osama who works for loly.osama was amazing and soo helpful. We arrived at loyl house to a beautiful lunch from his wonderful family.my new friends now🙃.
Then off we went with loly and medu.we saw soo much that day and the guys are always friendly and pleasant. I still cannot believe how brilliant a time we had.we were treated like king and queen. Sleeping out in the desert was amazing and the effort the guides did was just awesome. I have had an amazing time in egypt and this trip was the hilight because the professionalism and friendliness of loly and his team was incredible. If you do one trip in egypt it must be this thanks from Kevin and yvette

We booked it sunday evening and at 7am the day after we were leaving to the baharia oasis for the one.night trip. Good organisation, I can only recommend. They try to stay awaybfeom the other tour, so that you really enjoy the place.

We chose to spend 4 days/3 nights in the Western desert to really soak in it and it was the best decision, it was really amazing, we didn’t feel rushed. From the day I contacted Loly back home to the day I returned, we felt cared about and safe. We were picked up in Cairo by sweet Mohammed, welcomed at Loly’s home with a nice lunch and moved on with our desert trip as planned. We requested to see Wadi el Hitan on the way back to Cairo which was nicely organized by Loly and Hamada who gave us a great tour in this amazing area prior to dropping us off at Cairo Airport.
Our trip in the desert was wonderful, we felt so tiny and vulnerable in the vastness of the desert. The night skies were breathtaking. Fouly and Mido shared with us their land and culture, we felt that they sincerely cared about us. They went above and beyond to make this trip unforgettable for us, trying to find the best spots to set camp. It was Ramadan and already quite hot but they still prepared nice lunches for us which was highly appreciated. It felt super special to share their tradition of breaking fast at sunset and drinking the usual 3 cups of tea after dinner by the fire. This trip and the lovely group of people who took care of us as if we were family members will always be in our thoughts. Thank you.

We had an amazing time with Egypt Western Desert Tours! We did the 3 day 2 night camping/tour of Black and White Deserts. The White Desert was the highlight but all of it was really neat. I was hoping Loly would be our guide based on good reviews but we had Foli and Aiman who ended up being perfect for us! Foli has a great sense of humor and speaks excellent English. We were 3 adults and 5 kids ages 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 - the kids loved this - it was the highlight of our trip to Egypt - they climbed mountains everywhere we stopped. The guides were very flexible and kind, and had everything we needed re: camping supplies - we were very warm in their tents and with their camel blankets. They were also great in how they planned our stops and where we camped- we avoided the other tourists, camped alone, felt like we were the only ones there. They cooked us great food. They also were very good drivers- it's crazy to drive in the desert! I have loved to travel for 20+ years but this was one of the most remote places I have ever been - the desert was just spectacular. It's really hard to describe- so quiet, beautiful stars, but lots of tracks of foxes, mice, and even wild camels. Would recommend this trip and Egypt Western Desert Tours to anyone going to Egypt. It really was truly amazing!

Hi! Given the recent tragic incident in Minya (3 Nov. 2018) and many advisories against travel to the Western Desert, I'm wondering if the tours to Bawiti are still operating? And if you recently did the tour, what kind of security precautions were taken by the tour operators? Thank you!

A friend of mine from Thailand just joined two days one night tour with Egypt Western Desert Tours and back to Cairo today safely. From my experience, Loly and his team are professional and know very well about his desert area so all visitors enjoy the tour and safe.
