The views are worth the uphill walk. It isn't far from the Lake either and when we went in the Summer, many houses had stalls outside selling ice cream/lollys which were very appreciated by us.

From the fortess you can see the best views of the town and lake, if the weather is good even Albania. Can not be missed

It is worth entering the fortress located on the hill to see an amazing view of Ohrid, the lake and the surrounding mountains. The entrance to the fortress is paid, but it is worth paying for this beautiful view.

Although I do not like the heights, climb to the highest point of the fortress was worth it. The look from above is beautiful in all directions. That Samuilo Tsar had to be a terrific guy.

We climbed up to Samuel’s Fortress purely for the views of the Old Town and the lake. Whilst there is a lot of history to the stronghold, the views are stunning and on a clear sunny day you can see for miles. Worth the climb...More

At times it was pretty hard going climbing up the hill but I enjoyed the challenge. The views were wonderful on the way up and when I got too tired I just stopped for a few minutes. It was certainly worth the effort when I...More

It is worth going up to the castle to see the views from the ramparts, which are over the lake, over the town and inland. Entry to the castle cost MKD 60 and once inside you can go up the steps and along the ramparts...More

Must to visit place in Ohrid. You may see there a lot of beautiful views on both Ohrid lake and city. However if you want to get any information on the fortress - you will be disappointed, there is no museum and informational booklets.

Great views over the city and the lake. Fortress has been "reconstructed" and likely doesn't look like the historical citadel. There is no museum, or really much of anything inside.
