Paid 100 rupees and didn't even get to see the fort and to arrive at the main part you need to walk for ages through undergrowth filled with large and aggressive monkeys. The ticket man was very kind and gave us tips to avoid angering them and offered us a stick but we just decided it wasn't worth it. Big... More

After enjoying our time at the Palace beneath, walk strait up to the fort and get lost along the way. Explore old military posts, bushbash a little and discover the numerous step wells inhabited by humongous monkey communities. This was an absolute highlight of our time in Rajastahn. We'd explore the place again if we could. It takes a minimum... More

Don't expect a nicely preserved piece of history but look forward to being drawn into Kiplings world and entering the imaginary kingdom that spawned king Louis. This run down fort delivers everything you'd expect from a bygone time in which grand buildings were built and have been recaptured by nature. This place really takes you into the world of the... The fort is well worth a visit and a guided walk with Jay Singh is worth the money for entertainment value alone. He is quite a character and will put a smile on your face. I think the monkeys would have caused us an abrupt turn around without Jay Singhs protection. The fort is in a sad state of repair... More

Well worth seeing. A real gem during our two month trip. Great views of the town and beautifully lit at night.

This is one of the most spectacular complexes we have seen in Rajasthan! With its non-restaurated character it has preserved something VERY special - we loved it!

This abandoned fort is worth the visit. The view is stunning and we spent some time just observing the hundreds of monkeys that live there ! I felt quite safe around those monkeys but bring a stick with you ... just in case.

Many guide books suggest not visiting Taragarh Fort, but to do so would be missing out on a beautiful fort, with stunning views. I would strongly suggest a guide, and Jay Singh ( ask at the cafe/gem store near the entrance) was wonderful. It is a steep climb and he renders plenty of assistance and guidance. We were the only...
