We went on a late afternoon trip for 2 hours ending at the night market. Be prepared for some precarious walkways and clambering. You get taken to several temples and ruins which you may have already seen. But you only have 10 minutes to view them so dont rely on this trip as the only way to visit. It was... More

We had dinner by the river, watching the boats go up and down the river. The barges were especially fun to watch. One big one in front and one in the back, making sure that the huge, long barges didn't hit the sides of the river banks

This river, which flows into Bangkok, is such a fast flowing river. There were many flowers and leaves zooming down the river.... it was fun to watch in this beautiful city!!

we stayed at a small hotel right on the river and sat and watched the river for a couple of hours. Kids were swimming in close out of the current, men were fishing, sand barges being towed up and down the river by tugs, tourist boats going around and ferries transporting people here and there. The river goes from here... More

Take one of the many sunset cruises on the river you will not regret it.Some of the temples are more easily accessed this way.

We were scammed unfortunately by trusting a kind passerby who walked to us to check whether we are Thai before he carried on his so called kind travelling advice. He told us there is a market price for western and Asian tourist for the boat ride to discover the true Bangkok. When he noticed we were kind of interested, he... More

We enjoyed watching the river traffic. There were fishermen, work boats, tugs pulling two to four barges, tourist boats and then on occasion incredible amounts of foliage coming down the river. Very entertaining.

We took a river barge dinner tour in the evening and it was lovely to see the ruins lit up in the night. Very relaxing. We also had the opportunity to see the catfish go crazy when some granules were thrown out, that was quite a thing to see. I like boat tours, I think they are always a nice... More

This river has been major transport 'highway' of Ayutthaya for ~1000s of years. When you take a tour on the river you can see the Ruins and temples and palaces the way they were intended to be seen as this river was at the front door. Really nice views of the many ruins in the area on just an hour... More
