Overview
More
Lanta Old Town is a small village on Ko Lanta's East Coast in Krabi Province. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as the port and commercial center for the island and provided safe harbor for Arabic and Chinese trading vessels sailing between the larger ports of Phuket, Penang and Singapore. Today, Old Town is the district capital; it has a post office, police station, Buddhist temple, Chinese temple and the island's hospital as well as a long pier.

We took a trip around the island and spent our afternoon in this charming town. Beautiful traditional wood buildings, lovely local people and unique shops.

Booked a private island tour that included a visit to the Lanta Old Town. We truly enjoyed walking the strip and meeting numerous shop owners that take the time to welcome visitors. Prices were very reasonable...no need to haggle. Noticed many restaurants offering plenty of...More

Once seemed a real village, now it’s an outdoor shopping center. Shops all the same everywhere. Tourist restaurants everywhere. I was lucky to know this village 10 years ago.

It is like going back in time, go on a market day and you are in for a treat. Must try steamed dumplings. Will try and stay here for a day or two next time we are in Thailand

The stretch of old town has small eateries & souvenir shops with a community museum highlighting the local life. It's quite laidback and people don't really bother you much, you can walk around freely and explore on your own.
