- VanessaDublin, Ireland21 contributionsIt's worth it, but prepare yourself mentally for the many people taking thousands of photos.Wonderful view!!! We went to see the sunset and it took us an average of 37 minutes to get to view point 1, but following the tip of the local guy who worked at our hotel we went to viewpoint 2 which has a view of the entire mountain range and the two beaches. This took another 5/10 minutes. Bring water because the humidity is high and it is very hot. The sunset itself was really beautiful but prepare yourself mentally for the Instagrammers taking a thousand photos. If you want to get a good seat if they get in front of you, go ahead. Worth the walk. I wish I had gone during the day to see the sun hitting the clear, blue water of the pool, but that will wait until next time.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 February 2024
- alessandro98Forli, Italy184 contributionsBeautiful island but very touristyI stayed 4 nights in Phi Phi and I had a great time because as luck would have it, the resort was on the quietest part of the island, i.e. the port side, the sea is beautiful even if subject to low tides and sometimes it retreats too much. The other part of the island is full of clubs with music until late and therefore if you want to rest it is difficult but to spend the evenings it is very nice. In the morning I took a boat from the port and went to Long Beach a few minutes away with 100 baht each way and the beach there is beautiful and the sea is wonderful but in the evening there is nothing. For the excursions I saw beautiful beaches and a wonderful sea but Maya Bay was a disappointment so I would avoid going because in addition to the excursion you pay 400 baht per person to enter a small beach where you cannot swim but only take photos with feet in the water.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 February 2024
- Karoli24714 contributionsPerfect viewThe viewpoint is a must do if you stay on Phi Phi island. It’s a walk up to around 300m level, the first part is stair climbing and the second part a steep way up to the viewpoint. 50bath for viewpoint 1+2 is cheap. The view from point 2 is great and you will not forget. Start as early in the morning as possible because the heat will become hotter and hotter. I started at 8am and needed around 55min up to viewpoint 2.I have drunken in total 2l water and it’s definitely not easy. Viewpoint 3 was closed and is only a little bit higher than point 2.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 February 2024
- ug-mucMunich, Germany438 contributionsQuite good, but not sensationalI went up there for sunset, the stairs are quite strenuous and now cost 50 baht. If you want to go to viewpoint 3, you have to pay another 20 baht. I wouldn't do that again and would only go to viewpoint 2. Somehow you feel like you're being ripped off at every corner, it's only a few baht, but it's annoying.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 February 2024

- Safari188620312465 contributionsWorth the Hike - Make sure to wear sneakers! The view and place were beautiful! I went to Viewpoint 1 and 2 and appreciated both despite the very sweaty hike up lol. I was very glad I wore my running shoes instead of slippers! It gets quite steep (still very safe) in some areas. When going downhill, make sure your shoes have grip as the slope can get slippery if wet. There are handrails there if you need. There is a 50bht entry fee at Viewpoint 1's entrance. The funds go towards maintaining the viewpoint/s. It was also worth it with the thought and presentation that went into the decoration at VP1 specifically. VP2 was also nice and clean. The reason for the 4-stars (based on my experience) is because I found it to be overcrowded at VP2 at the time that I went which was around sunset. While I understand that sunset is THE ideal time to go, it would have been nice if the others weren't so loud and smoked so much weed that it made the whole place smell so pungent. Though, I do understand that I may have just been unlucky at the time. Nevertheless, the viewpoint itself is definitely a 5-star. There is a cafe at VP2 for you to order drinks from. The views are amazing, you can see the 2 sides of the island and generally the beautiful Koh Phi Phi landscape. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 3 June 2024
- Allan D2 contributionsA Breathtaking PanoramaPhi Phi Island Viewpoint offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Phi Phi Islands, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler. The hike up to the viewpoint is relatively short but can be challenging in hot weather. However, the effort is well worth it. Once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with stunning vistas of the emerald-green waters, white-sand beaches, and towering limestone cliffs. The view is particularly spectacular at sunset, when the sky is ablaze with vibrant colors. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture this unforgettable moment.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 October 2024
- ColemereBristol, United Kingdom182 contributionsWorth the 50 baht and 15 minute climb!A really amazing view that will cost you 50THB, its about 10 minutes walk up steep steps to viewpoint 1 (take a bottle of water) then another 10 uphill to viewpoint 2. Unfortunately it was cloudy so we didn’t get the best sunset but if you catch nice weather its got to be one of the best places to watch it. After 4pm it does however get really busy, and the cafe at Viewpoint 2 is ridiculously extortionate, so plan to eat afterwards back down in the town - *the climb might not be suitable for kids or elderly*Visited November 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 November 2024

We did this in the morning as it gets hot during the day and its more challenging to do it during the day. After getting to the top view point one you can keep on going up to view point 2 where there is nice places to take photos and enjoy a cold drink or beer at the bar up there. I recommend going in the morning or even for sunrise on sunset and try to avoid going during the day. There is stores to buy water before the stairs begin not much while on the stairs. Enjoy !

The viewpoint is great if you want to have an elevated view of the island. I recommend going in the morning because then the sun is behind you and you can get better pictures. It did get quite crowded with everyone taking pictures, but everyone was respectful and let each person have their chance.
Note! There are two ways to get to the viewpoints. The recommended route is via the stairs in the town area. It is steep, but way more direct and quicker than the other way around. The other way around is a road that cars/bikes use to get over the mountain. It is much further (3km vs 800m) and doesn't offer any views until you're at the top.

Getting a little lost in the alleys of a mountain (yes that exists) through tiny dwelling full of backpackers might not be that fun, but it WAS on the way to Phi Phi viewpoints (and yes there are two). And these stoned fellows helped me find the way to these gorgeous viewpoints. Entry is THB 30 per person and you may want to stay forever. Gorgeous views of the 2 islands and the adjoining strip, the higher viewpoint is better here. The place will want you to have a picnic there :) Buy some local beer.

It was a hard trek up but definitely worth it. We came from phi phi village and followed the signs up. It was a walk in the woods on a small “trail” with only a few signs. Don’t worry and just enjoy the walk in nature. Be mindful as we saw giant lizards, scorpions and even had a monkey come by and pass the trail!
It is a small fee to get in and to use the toilet (bring your own tissue; when I went they didn’t have any). There are drinks up there for purchase and the view is incredible!

I got really amazed with the view! However, It is a bit challenging to get to the first viewpoint, not mentioning the second and final one. Make sure you have water and try to go there not in hottest times of the day.
You have to walk up steep steps to reach to the first view point. The viewpoint 1 is lovely! It costs only 30b to enter (paid after taking all the steps). If you get there, get more water (you can buy it there) and head to the viewpoint 2 (no more viewpoints after that). The path to 2nd viewpoint is not as steep as the first one, but believe me you will get tired. After all it is all worth it. At the very top you will see some breathtaking views, can have a coffee in the cafe, and take beautiful pictures.
Watch out - as a European I was surprised by the lack of fencing or any protection. In Asia it’s normal - just the wildlife :)
To sum up - really worth going, however, only 30% of my travel grop decided to go to the second one.
ENJOY :)

We went all the way through the woods, don't to that, it is way to hot, and longer in distance. There is stairs right in the middle of the town, it is much quicker. You will get 2 views, one is view point and next is little higher where you can see both side of the island. Its is worth claiming those stairs. There is a shop at the top so you can get cool and refreshing drinks. Go for a smoothie right at the top. Take as much photos as you can! I went there day time, it was really hot. Entrance is 30 bhat. If you can go in the morning or for a sunset, it must be even more beautiful. Note for sunset a lot of people go, so go little earlier to avoid the crowd and stay till sunset.

Went twice during my stay in phi phi. First time was at sunset, very beautiful but also very crowded( it became a photo shoot with people queuing to get a picture with the view).
However I returned early the next morning and had it basically to myself. Worth the walk , view is amazing :) .

The trek upto the viewpoint was a bit hard and tiring and highly recommend to take water or drinks with you. There is viewpoint 2 and viewpoint 3 and 3rd one requires more climbing but it's better to go upto the 3rd viewpoint than stopping at 2. The best time to visit is before 10 in the morning. We went there at about 3pm and the lighting was not good for photos. Also the colour difference is not clearly visible with sun light so bright. Also they charge 30 THB for entrance. There is a snack bar at the top and they have juices and other snacks.

I'm 64yr and it was a bit of a hike to get up there but it is concrete all the way. Well worth the effort though. Great views from both viewpoints but of course number 2 is the crowing glory. Entry fee is 30 baht.
I was surprised as to the amount of time and labour that must have gone in to creating all the well maintained gardens and surrounding sculptures. Cold drinks and souvenirs available at Viewpoint 2. The higher cafe shop was closed, no doubt due to the pandemic. But don't despair as the views will have you clicking away.
Certainly worth the effort.

Amazing place to visit when you are in the island. Great view of Ton Sai bay and Loh Dalum Bay together.
10 minutes walk from the pier to the start of stairs.
Stairs: 315 in toto, takes 20-30 minutes to climb up.
Cost: 30 Baht per person.
Time: Mornings or sunset
Must wear/carry: comfortable shoes and water bottle
Viewpoint 2: is much much better and only 10 minutes away from viewpoint 1. Must visit.
While descending, it is 10 minutes walk from viewpoint 2 to start of stairs and five minute walk from 2 to 1.

Hello - we are planning to visit in November and are still trying to decide on accommodations - whether we should stay in Phuket/Krabi and do day trips to Phi Phi islands or if we should stay a night or two on the island. If we do day trips - are there any that do this hike to the vantage point or are they mostly boat trips that stay on the water? Thank you!
Written 11 September 2023
Hi Danielle,
We did both, we stayed on Phi Phi for half our stay, then Phuket for the remainder. It was a good balance. Phuket is generally very busy indeed. Phi Phi less so and very relaxed. We also stayed on Krabi on another trip, I dodnt like the place at all. The Viewpoint is easyto get to, you just walk a few mins from the main port and you're there, it's a fairly steep trek though, so wear decent footwear.....Enjoy!

Does anyone know how long this walk takes from the Beach Resort to the viewpoint??
Written 30 March 2019
About 10 to 20 minutes, can be an hour all depends on your fitness level. It's a great walk, lots of stairs and you go up and up. Take enough water. At the viewpoint you can buy beverages. No alcohol is permitted.

is bare-foot hike up to the top will be a challenge? I plan to go with just a pair of sandal
Thanks
Written 13 September 2018
Make sure you get the stairs from the centre and you will be fine even in bare-foot.
I knew this but because I was following other people I ended up doing a 2h hike completely around the centre in the middle of the jungle - if you by chance take this one will be challenging in flipflops

I am reaching Krabi on 21st July. My intial plan was to stay 4 nights in Krabi and 2 nights at Phi Phi but now I feel not to book any hotels in Phi Phi due to weather conditions as it might get difficult to reach phi phi from Krabi via ferry and come back again to catch a plan from Krabi airport during July.
So is this a good decision to just stay at one place in Krabi for 5/6 nights and making day tour to phi phi if possible as othet island hoping tour as per weather. ?
Written 18 June 2018
Our opinion don’t book in advance 5/6 nights in Krabi! Book one night and check of you could go to phi phi for two nights or something! It’s worth more than a day tour! Check the view point! You can chill and have a smoke at banana bar! Recommended place: ibiza hostel it’s close to all places/phuphaya hotel is kind far from center but has a very beautiful hill views from your room! Pirate house has really good indian and thai food!

Approximately how many miles is this hike and how much elevation gain?
Written 7 April 2018
It might be a mile total. The stairs at the beginning is quite the calf workout. I’m guessing 1000 ft of elevation gain.

I can’t seem to get the resort to email back to me. Does anyone know what the best rooms are. I have hillside bungalow Seaview or the triple room. Many thanks.
