Our Thai friends are local to Nakon Pathom, and suggested we come here on our first night with them. After a short tour of the temple, we had a feast of a dinner at the adjoining market. It seems to be quite a hub of activity for the locals, with dozens of food stalls providing a wide variety of Thai... More

They say it is the highest pagoda in the world, but it is definitly the hightest in Thailand. Great for a day trip from Bangkok by train. Easy to reach from the railway station in Nakhon Pathom, but a bit harder to get back since trains don't run back until late afternoon. Busses go back all the time though. The... More

There is a market in front of this pagoda, which we can enjoy finding fresh fruits and food during the day. Especially at night, on the west part of pagoda, the famous night market is located there

This is the highest Stupa (Buddhist temple) in the world and is just a short walk from the Nakhon Pathom railway station. The origins of the Stupa are unknown. However, as per the local legend, it is over two thousand years old. The temple consists of a central bell-shaped structure topped by a cone and is reached through a short... More

Incredible Buddhist edifice clearly seen from the highway. There are so many to see in Thailand that the novelty wears off. I feel sorry that they think they must donate money to receive a blessing or good luck.

You are this place and you are over awed by its grandeur. It's big...I mean bigggggg. Good relaxing place like all other stupa and a big local attraction too. Do visit if you are in the area.

Many times I have visited this enormous chedi that is the focal point of the whole of Nakhon Pathom. The temple is huge and the grounds are interesting with zillions of little nooks, crannies and little caves to explore, and people to observe. The end of the afternoon is a good time for photos. The temple itself only opens on... More

We spent a good while trying to determine if we cold get into the chedi here. Didn't manage it and were not even sure it is possible. There are lots of Buddha statues in the gallery surrounding the chedi and you can get some nice views from this area as weill. Fascinating site and well worth a visit.
