A highly recommended place. I would love to visit it again and again. Benghazi and Libya is a Virgin place. People are generous and so friendly.

Although Libya is not a country open to tourism at all, has the potential to do so. Its Mediterranean coast is the main attraction but for those who enjoy visiting historical places the Greco-Roman ruins of Libya, in both region of Tripolitania and Cyrenaica, are an archaeological treasure. in comparison to Cyrene it is much simpler and smaller place but it has its own ruins (outside and inside the sea), nice beach, not very TOURISTIC-SETUP place, but if you are visiting cyrene it worth visiting.

Ptolemais is a great stop when traveling between Benghazi and Cyrene. It is a little jewel of another historical site of ruins in Libya. Unfortunately, the grounds haven't been well kept up during the revolution, but the site itself has been preserved. For this ancient city I first heard in April 2009. I planned to visit with friends Benghazi and its environs during an extended weekend. At that time I did not know much about that area.
