I am so very frustrated with this tardy company Cataferry running this ferry service from Tanjung Gemuk to Tioman.
A couple of days ago, I booked a return journey for a friend of mine on the 7.15AM ferry Mon 16 March 2020 from Tanjung Gemuk to Tioman on Economy Class and then a return from Tioman to Tanjung Gemuk at 1.30pm 18 March 2020. A day ago I called them to arrange an upgrade him from Economy Class to Premium Class both ways and the company sent me a link to pay RM100 by credit card. The payment link did not work well and the page just hung. The company asked me to repeat the payment process again and this resulted in a double payment and they said they would see to it.
I then mentioned that I wanted to accompany my friend and tried to book a seat beside him online. After clicking on the selected seats, the website hung again before I could even effect payment. I tried no less than 10 times over a period of 18 hours to select the same seat I originally selected beside my friend but it was and is still blocked although the company said it would release the affected seats.
So many problems for such simple transactions and I mentioned to the company they should make up for this and they asked me what my proposal was and I suggested that they offer me a complimentary return trip on the ferry. They said they would reply to my option but have avoided the issue in email replies and just asked me to buy my tickets at the tickets office at the jetty.
When i call their office the "Enquiry" Department which deals with this issue refuses to speak with me and I am already making my way there this evening Sun 15 March 2020. This is a prime example of Malaysia Boleh and really bad public relations.

I was on Cataferry servce from Mersing to Tioman on 30 Aug, 0715 hrs ferry. The ferry was clean and comfortable.. BUT.. i didt pay MYR100 for the premium upper deck to listen to Cataferry staff snoring very loudly for the 1 hour journey. Also there was a couple of Cataferry staff sleeping on the premium deck. I happened to be the only passenger on the premium deck. Cataferry management shall not allow their staff to sleep or linger in the premium deck.. EVER

Bad customer service as the landline provided at the official website is not in service anymore. No service desk at terminal and officers there cannot handle when situation arises they will inform you to email them. Arrived at terminal 10 minutes earlier 9:50am, ferry slot at 10am but ferry took off before said time which is ridiculous!! This caused many people failed to onboard approximately 10 passengers. Attendance should be taken and if there is number of passengers haven onboard should have at least wait till 10am!! Affected my diving plans and accommodation. Was notify by the staffs there if arrive 5 mins earlier I will not be allowed to onboard too!!! This is my 2nd time with Cataferry and its so disappointing!!

Refer to your boarding pass, you are required to be at boarding hall 20 minutes before departure for boarding. Gate will close 10 minute before departure. From our CCTV, you only be at boarding hall 9.55am that day.
Please make sure all arrive as per instructed to prevent affecting plan.

Took Cataferry as there were many good reviews on it despite being more costly than Bluewater. Not exactly on schedule, ferries arrival were around + 30mins, still acceptable for me.
Seats are spacious and the staff manning the entrance are helpful especially with the heavy luggage. Cool, clean cabin and toilets. Thankfully, no motion sickness despite the rough waves.
Tips: Proceed to the Harbour Centre first upon arrival which is across the Mersing Jetty to print out the boarding pass and pay for the Marine Park fee.

We just came back from Tioman and our ride on Cataferry was owesome. The ferry set off and reached Tioman on time. Journey was smooth only setback was seat was not so comfortable, just a chair to sit but not to sleep in. Seats are all numbered so at jetty we dont have to line up in front to rush for seats. We waited till jetty is almost empty before getting into ferry but our seats are still waiting for us.
I read previous reviews that on return to Mersing after getting on ferry they found that their seats are taken. I was worried but after our trip back i finally understood how Cataferry's operation works.
Cataferry runs on 4 stops in Tioman ie Genting, Paya, Tekek and Kg Batang Air. While dropping ppl off at 1st stop, they also pick up ppl going back to Mersing. They then continue to next stop to droppoff and pickup ppl. That is why sometimes ppl find that their seats are taken when they get on the ferry. In that case they have to be patient to wait for those ppl occupying their seats to dropoff 1st. In my case i just sat in an unoccupied seat nearby and waited for ppl taking my seats to dropoff then i move back to my own numbered seat.
Overall our trip on Cataferry was good with staff helping with going up and down and I strongly recommend taking this ferry. In Bluewater ferry seats are free seatings so if late we need to sit separately from other members of our families but in Cataferry when purchasing tickets,we choose seats ourselves to sit together all the way.

Just amazing customer support by the Cataferry team. The angel from the enquiry team stayed in FB Messenger for more than an hour and helped me sort out a number of issues with my booking of 15 people. Without that person our trip to Tioman would have been a complete mess. Thanks a lot Cataferry.

I took Cataferry from Mersing to Paya Jetty Tioman. The journey was good. The condition of the ferry was clean and staff was helpful.
BUT the return trip was an unpleasant experience.
I boarded the Cataferry ferry from Paya to Mersing for the return trip only to find out that our seats were taken by others. I have 3 elderly with me. Apparently, this was double book and they have not depart on the stop.
We were asked to sit elsewhere without any arrangements by staff. When we stop at the next jetty, we realize we have taken some other family seats and were left with no seats again. What’s funny is the announcement were asking everyone to sit base on their ticketing number.
Was asked to move again. This time I had to approach a staff and requested to find us a seat instead of leaving us to search for seats ourselves all the time. Please take into consideration there’s 3 Elderly over 70 and 80 with me.
I suggest 1. Please improve on your booking system. 2. Get your staff/crew on board to help arrange the seats and not let your customers search and keep changing their own seats when there’s no information if the seat they have taken has already been booked.
P.S - I was with 3 elderly. My parents and aunt. Your review has no such selection so I will select family with children.

We notice that your negative feedback in on your return trip from Tioman. We wish to clarify that our system will not allowed any double booking on the same seat.
Refer to our announcement on website that required customer to read before proceed to the payment page, detail as below for other visitor to review as well. Especially on notice no. 10 and 12.
IMPORTANT NOTICE WHEN YOU AT TIOMAN
1. Info to Cataferry Passenger, arrival time to Tioman in the ticket is the 1st stop and last stop might be 60 min later from arrival time.
2. Departure time from Tioman is from vary between 30 minutes earlier or 30 minutes later depend on your pier.
3. We will sms if pick up ealy, keep your phone reachable. 😊
4. Make sure your contact is reachable.(for Malaysia and Singapore roaming Number)
5. You can send email to us or Facebook message Cataferry if you need any assistance.
6. Cataferry have Service counter at Tioman,Tekek Pier from 8.00am to 2.30pm.
7. Internet line at Tioman might be limited, hence, we advise you get return printed ticket for our ferry pick up.
8. Departure time from Tioman is refer to Tekek Pier. (official pier with marine department and Custom)
9. Ferry might be retime from Tioman depend on the pick up of other passenger. If you wish to return to Singapore by bus, we suggest you book bus 30 mins away from our arrival time at Mersing Jetty to avoid miss the bus.
10. Please note that we are droping and picking passenger at the same time, so your seat might not be vacant when we pick you from Tioman until we leave from Tioman to Mersing/Tg Gemok.
11. If you purchase 1 WAY ticket from Tioman and you never seen Cataferry before, please aware on the look of CATAFERRy to prevent board to wrong ferry.
12. As Tioman have more than 1 jetty, some jetty is small and boarding to ferry have to be more careful and reduce the risk on your own especially when peak season. Please inform us early if you need special assistance.
13. For those stay at resort using private jetty with speed boat transfer, PLEASE INFORM YOUR RESORT THAT WE MIGHT PICK UP EARLY.

Had my journey for company trip with no more seasick. Great service and very friendly staff like sailormoon dress remind my childhood memories.

Easy to book……but I had booked my return and then the bus for onward journey…..they sent me a cancellation which ended up in my junk box…….very luckily I found it…if I hadn’t I would have ended up standing on the jetty at Tioman at 6am…no ferry would have turned up and I would have missed my 12.00 bus to Terengganu.
So, I had to leave the hotel on Tioman one day early, so costing me a day on the island.
As a result I had to pay for a hotel in Mersing to catch the bus the next day.
Not even a sorry…..but they have an almost monopoly on the transfers.

Book Online. If not there is a staff station at the ferry booking center but there is no counter. The catamaran is clean and seats are comfortable. Seat number is allocated. Best is that they depart on time. You need to be at the Gate 30 mins before departure time. Ticket price changes daily and need to check the schedules online. Recommend to purchase round trip ticket instead of one way. Not recommended to take when the sea is rough as you might get sea sick.

Hello team, We have 2 big luggage 23 kg pcs and 1 handcarry.
Tioman Island is a part of our tour. We have no place to storage our suitcase.
Is it possible to take it on the Ferry to Tioman Island?

Hi There. I will stay for 10days in Tioman. Backpack is too heavy to carry. Thinking of luggage bag. How the staff handle the luggage bag? Do they have service to help place your lugggage on deck?

From Singapore you should drop off at Mersing. The bus I took from Singapore dropped me near the ferry terminal but if it takes you to the bus terminal instead (~1km away) you should be able to take a taxi for RM10 or less
