They could have done more. Some pics are missing text describing it. Not doing justice to Sandakan's rich history.

this museum is small and very basic, but it does cover a lot of the history and the heritage of Sandakan from first settlers to independence of British rule. Yes it is basic, and old fashioned, but it has its own charm. And its free!

If you want a AC break then drop by with low expectations for learning much. the Museum needs KL to donate some serious cash to it. The building needs to be pulled down and started again

There are two exhibitions, one about pair of two Americans who were travelling around Borneo in colonial times. Second exhibit is about Sandakan history and WWII. The museum is old and need renovation, but has some charm as well. Free of charge.

A little tired and old fashioned, but interesting as both in terms of what was covered and how it was exhibited . . . almost a time capsule of a bygone age! They very kindly looked after our bags whilst we explored Sandakan!
