Our party of 8 adults booked flights to Sandakan for a day trip to visit Sepilok and Labuk Bay to see the Orangutans and Probiscus monkeys. The night before we traveled we found Wee Tung Tan (Christopher) wuth a number of favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. We emailed Chris and within minutes he replied and spoke ti him via WhatsApp. Chris met us at Sandakan Airport the next morning in a new 13 seater air-conditioned mini bus stocked with water and free WiFi. Chris was amazing and took us to everything we wanted to see and more, his timing for animal feeding times was spot on. My famuly had an amazing experience thanks to Chris, we cant recommend him enough. If you want to visit Sepilok and requires transport and an amazing guide Chris is the man. Contact details are WhatsApp or phone +60 16-837 6628 you can also find him via Facebook

We have just returned from a fantastic tour in Borneo arranged by Borneo Sandakan Tours. We booked online from the UK and found the staff at BST helpful from start to finish. They were very patient with my queries both online and in person. From the moment we set foot in Sandakan, this tour company made everything so easy. Each member of staff we encountered was helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. The tour itself was wonderful and felt like good value for money. We did 3 river tours, a jungle walk and a night cruise. The latter was in place of the planned night walk and was an unexpected highlight for us. We saw fish eating owls and king fisher by torch light perched on branches by the river at very close range. We saw lots of wildlife during the day including a pygmy elephant, proboscis monkeys, orangutans and finally - a big crocodile. Additionally, we were delighted to find 3 orangutans hanging out (literally) in the trees close to lodge. They were attracted by the fruit and didn't seem to mind being observed by us. We had visited Sepilok where we saw just one Orangutan which ran along a railing so we were so grateful to have this close encounter with orangutans at our lodge. At Sepilok we were amongst a big crowd of people so just glimpsed the orangutan but at the lodge there were just the three of us - mother, daughter and husband - looking up at the treetops, utterly captivated. Pure, humbling magic.

We reached Sandakan with a plan but weren't sure on how to go about it. We walked across to the Borneo Sandakan Tours office and were really happy with the service that was provided by their staff. They were really helpful!
We did a tour of the Gomantong Caves and the Kinabatangan River Cruise. Gary (our guide) was extremely knowledgable and made sure we had a great time. The Gomantang caves were amazing but we got to see only a small part of it which was disappointing. The Kinabatangan River cruise was a little disappointing because we didn't get to spot any pigmy elephants.
We had a great day overall. But felt the tour was a little overpriced compared to all the adventure & sightseeing packages with got from the tour operator in Sarawak.

I booked the day before my 2 day 1 night trip to Kinabatangan, at the Borneo Sandakan Tours office in Sandakan. Everyone from the office was friendly and efficient. I had DP as my driver/guide. He was professional, knowledgeable and great company. My highlights were seeing a mother orangutan with her baby near my room at Myne Travel Resort, seeing the proboscis monkeys on the river cruise and a slow loris during the night safari. If you're looking for a tour company in this area choose this one. They will look after you.

I spent multiple days of activities with a guide and the staff from Borneo Trails and I cannot say enough good things! Kurt (or Eryanto) was my guide for multiple activities around Sandakan including: Seligan Turtle Island, Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, Gormantong Caves, and to Sukau to Borneo Nature Lodge (which was also stellar). I have never met a more informative or interesting guide. I learned an overwhelming amount about wildlife, nature, culture, conservation and best practices of the ecological travel industry. All of the captains and drivers and other staff were also prompt, friendly and flexible, as well. The experiences at all of the above places were phenomenal. From watching a sea turtle lay eggs to seeing an orangutan in their natural environment of the jungle- I truly felt like I got to live out a life's dream.

I was searching for Sandakan Wildlife Tours and came across Borneo Sandakan Tours. I used the 'Contact Us' section and Mercyl responded promptly. He was always prompt in replying to my queries and I managed to book my tour (25-28 April 2017)without a hassle.
Tour wise we had 1 night at Selingan Island, and the guide assigned to us Wan was experienced and thoughtful. Because of him we managed to see a little baby turtle in the daytime!
And then when it was handed over to Ray for Kinabatangan, it was the same. He and the driver took good care of us throughout as well. I totally enjoyed our stay at Myne Resort and all the river cruises on the Kinabatangan River!
Will definitely recommend them and travel with them again! :D

After a 1 1/2 hr delayed flight we arrived in Sandakan to find our guide patiently waiting. Ray took us on the tour of the Orangutans, Rainforest and Sun Bears (which was excellent), and then proceeded to fill in the rest of our unplanned day visiting a tea house, fish market and the Australian POW war memorial. With John's assistance, this company ensured we had a fantastic day and were thoroughly looked after at all times. I would highly suggest them to anyone considering tours around Sandakan as they certainly delivered beyond our expectations.

Hi, Sharmayne. What would you like to know about this attraction?
I have a friend who is just arrived in Kuching - Borneo for 2 weeks. Solo traveller (male). He doesn't want to stay in Kuching all the time and would like to get around. Hook up with like--minded travellers. Any tips please? and how to get from Kuching to Sandakan and also places where there are bars with Westerners in Miri? how to get there blah blah :)

We are planning do a day tour to Sandakan especially to Sepilok Orang Utan sanctuary and to see the sun bear. We plan to take a fight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan in early flight and return on the same day back to KK. It is possible to do that trip? We just worry if that will be rush and we unable to catch our flight back to KK.

I accidentally booked hotel in Sandakan instead of Kota Kinabalu.
Do you have tours from Sandakan to Mount Kinabalu and river rafting?
Thanks
