Safety is always their number one priority and their instructors are always very knowledgeable, kind and patient hence why I keep going back to them. Dive groups are always small so they're able to give a more personalized attention and guidance. Charlotte, Jay, Dee and Chico; keep up the fabulous work. The operator follow strictly to PADI rules by splitting the divers into a smaller group. As we are new divers, the DMs managed our dive trips that suitable with our skills and experiences. We had a fun and enjoyable trip with Universal Divers. I will dive with Universal Divers when I come back to Perhentian Island again.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 June 2024

My partner and I both did our open water course here. We communicated with Charlotte beforehand who was warm and helpful. Farouk was our instructor and he taught us well. We were made to feel really welcome at Universal Dive, every day our equipment was laid out for us before we began the dive. Charlotte is really passionate about conservation and the dive centre have sponsored Abdul Chalets and another place with metal straws,which was pleasing to see. On our last day, once qualified, we dived with Alex who was a lot of fun (despite being a big Arsenal fan Hehe) and we got to see turtles! If you are staying nearby I would highly recommend diving with these guys. It is meant to be a good place to learn as visibility is good, there's LOADS to see and it isn't too deep. Thank you to everyone.
Ps. Any negative reviews on here seem to be about people who don't work there anymore, so don't let that put you off. The equipment is well looked after.

Unfortunately was not a good experience for me here, at the very start of my holiday. If you get the chance to choose an instructor, I would not recommend Joe. He was very cold and rude, and even screamed at me (necessary..?) when I could not deflate my BCD as the button was a little stuck (I have an AOW license). I ended up booking the rest of my dives with a different dive center. The rest of the staff were really friendly, though.

My partner and I booked last minute to do our Padi Open Water and Advanced Open Water course back to back at Universal. I have to say all the team were excellent, knowledgeable, professional, experienced and most of all, safe. Charlotte arranged it so we could do our theory in advance, which I can’t recommend enough, as it leaves you with just the practical to do, which is spent mostly in the water. Universal made it very easy for us, along with collecting us each day from where we were staying by boat and dropped us back whenever we were ready to go.
The dive sites were excellent and the House Reef meters from Universal is fantastic (after snorkelling many). The highlights diving the wreck and doing a night dive, which was amazing. Special thanks to Ivan, who make it that much more fun. We dived with the various other instructors there too, and they were all excellent.

My daughter and I did lots of fun dives as well as my advanced open water qualification with Universal divers. I can’t stress how amazing they are. They are polite, patient and kind. They keep dive group sizes to small numbers so you get individual attention. We dived with every instructor and they were all lovely; we felt safe and informed the whole time. Anyone visiting the Perhentian islands needs to book some dives with Universal Divers. Big thanks to Steven who was great with my daughter, who needed to do a refresher and was a little nervous. She has left the Perhentian islands desperate to do some more diving.

We did our refresher course and fun dives with Universal Diver. Alex was really patient, gave thorough and helpful lessons and pointers while keeping a strict eye on us and our safety. The dive shop is organized and the equipment and boats are well-kept. We enjoyed our time so much, we added two more fun dives to our trip.

I decided todo my open water licenses with my two children aged 12 and 16 with the Universal Diver team on Pulau Perhentian.
The team is absolutely brilliant teaching the essentials of diving to children/teenager and as parent I always felt my children being taken care of perfectly and I felt they are in very safe hands.
Not only that Perhentian is a great spot to dive, it is also the Universal DIver team that made this experience special.

We did some dives with this diving company during our holiday, booking them before our arrival, and we had a great time. Precise and organized right from the booking stage, they also offered us a pick up service from the pier of our hotel, always very punctual. Comfortable and fast boat. Very nice dives, with clear explanations and maximum attention to safety.

This is a very well run Dive Centre, offering a very safe, friendly and welcoming experience.

Hi All,
Just trying to write up a quick budget plan for a trip around SE Asia and will be going to the Perhentians.
I have never dived before and just want to know how much approximately it would be for a few dives for a beginner over a couple of days. How much would you say one first time dive would cost?
