During my holiday I did a “bubble maker” dive at the Barat with my son. The instructor Cedric Bourgine was very professional and passionate about his profession. I enjoyed the dive so much that I immediately took a course, which I also passed. Obtained PADI certificate.
It was a very nice experience. We were able to see beautiful fish, turtles and even sharks. Cedric is very good at his job and you feel safe underwater. That makes diving fun and you can enjoy the fish. You will be well prepared for each lesson so that you can enter the water with confidence. My son and I enjoyed it. I can't wait to go diving again.
Thanks Cedric.

Excellent place to learn to dive. I spent my open water patent there with Cédric Bourgine. He spoke French very practical to learn under these conditions. And security level it is very good. The dive sites are very beautiful. Thanks to Cedric for this week with him. (Matheo 14 years)

My friend and I chose The Barat to dive with by pure mistake. We'd arrived that day and gone for a wander, and reaching The Barat Dive saw the guy behind the bench (Josh) and had a chat. SUCH a nice guy, knows diving like the back of his hand and we were signed up to dive the very next day.

My friend booked his AOW while I joined in just to dive (as I'm Rescue) and that was no issue. I got to help out where needed for his skill tests and just leisure dive the rest of the time.
Josh is the most amazing instructor. Happy, knowledgable, quick, communicates everything clearly and slowly to learn it, and loves his diving.
The equipment is all great, staff all friendly and enthusiastic, service top notch and it's just a great vibe to hang aroud at between dives.

I can't recommend Barat Dive enough, and that recommendation is purely because of Josh's dedication to diving and teaching it all.
Thanks for the great time.

We checked out the dive shops on the island and this one is by far the worst and most unfriendliest one we ever came accross. This, I think American guy, we asked about the dive locations they had. His attitude was so bad that we kind of walked away! I feel bad for the shop that because of this one guy I rate this shop with only one star but because of this guy we decided NOT to go with him!

The conversation went more or less like this:
Us: Hello, we would like to go diving.
Him: Okay.
Us: What can you tell about the dive sites?
Him: Which one you want to go to?
Us: No idea, can you tell a bit more about them?
Him: If I tell you the names do you know what to see?
Us: No?! But you can tell us what we can see there?
Him: I can tell you which fish you can see.

Then he walked away without saying anything to help an elderly couple.
We were perplex because of this!

I didn't dive for years and my boyfriend didn't dive at all. So, I needed refresh dive and he wanted make discover dive for the first time. We found Barat center in Lonely planet (old name Watercolors dive centre) and met there girl Clair. She was so kind and warm, we decided to stay with Barat. So, we did our dives with great dive guid Cedric and feel comfortable and calm all the time. He put us in a great place D'Lagoon, it is only 15 meter deep, but with a lot of creatures (stingray, turtle, moray, triggerfish).

We did 6 dives in 3 days with Aeron at the Barat and we had such a good time. There is an abundance of fish to be seen at lots of different dive sites. Aeron was excellent at explaining the sites, the hazards and what we might expect to see; whilst also being friendly and helpful throughout our dives. I definitely recommend diving with these guys!

My daughter and I are already certified and so made fun dives. They make at least 3 to 4 trips and so easy to find a suitable time. The dives were fine and similar to those in other Malaysian waters. We did not face much currents and we opted to do 4 fun dives in 2 days. Even though the wet suits looked worn out, dive equipment were well maintained. Both the dive masters whom we dived with, Cedric and Pedra are caring, attentive and friendly made the dives fun and safe. The dive shop is on the beach and hence carrying the equipment to and fro from the boat is easy. We would love to go back!

Because my girlfriend doesn't have a license we did the discovery dive and a fun dive and the instructor cedric was definitely the best! He took his time and took us to two great locations we had a great time with barat diving! They have two instructors so planning is advised if you want to do a wreck or licensed dive. If you want to get a license you need to check for room because they are almost always full! Would recommend for beginners and advanced.

DSD - Instructor voon from dive centre
I would like share my feedback base on the above statement

Consent form / Briefing
1. Form given for first timer is super blurred. As the Yes/No part the questions were unreadable

2. Answering True or False
Instructor Voon went thru all the questions with us without much elaboration/passion

3. Explanation about the equipments and some hand signage under the water
- weight belt was explained accordingly
- hand signage I think the maximum taught was 4 only, oxygen level explained and realising air and vice verse from the vest explained too
- I had a newly opened mouthpiece with me due to hygiene purposes, I was asking instructor voon if I needed to mould my mouthpiece first as it is the moulding type. The answer given was NO Need.
- He immediately attached it to the equipment vest with a cable tight

Reached the spot of dsd
- Instructor voon equipment well himself and within minutes he back flip and its in the water without any explanation
Followed by my friend which is his first time like me.
No proper explanation given as follow:
- how to bite or use mouthpiece
- how to breath properly underwater (long breath or short)
- about ear pressure
- how to flip backwards
- why in flow water in my goggles? (Too lose or not tight)

All these above was NOT explained.

At last and the main reason for quitting it was
Instructor voon said now left you, your friend is able to breath under the water now.
Are you here to dive??

After being given all the pressure and negative vibes from the instructor voon and without any help or concern given by him eventhough I said I can't breath well with mouth and my goggles the water is coming in when I'm under the water,etc...

We were 4 person there and only 3 went to do the dsd.
My friend during the dsd the instructor left them (2 of them) behind without alerting them as they were discovering fishes and etc..
They were in panic as they saw no one nearby not even the instructor nor the other friend but luckily they spotted the neon fins and quickly swim afterwards

Ending one of my friend the oxygen tank left about 56 like that.

This was my first experience and its gonna be my last too

I rather do paragliding or sky dive.

Thank you for the experience and hospitality given by instructor voon.

We went diving the third year again with Josh, Ceridric and team and a wonderful holiday. We were contacted weeks before arrival proacvtively to plan ahead. Our youngest made his open water junior with Josh and got best care and special attention to learn best as possible. I did my advanced open water with Josh and again got best attention and learned a lot from him. We all (family of 4) felt very safe diving with him and the team and he really made sure that is understood and demonstrated well what should be seen and learned during the courses. So no "short crash course" but proper education. It was more thoroughly compared to our experiences in other Padi schools. So we had a very good time with 37 dives only this year and two courses and talking all into the account they are our first choice in the area.
