Knew them from volunteering with them some years ago, and visited recently while on holiday. They've come a long way, and do great work with environmental education at the island school, grooming island guardians among Perhentian's own youths, and conservation work in the Marine Park. Based in the local village, you'd be immersed in the island community.

We went on a great snorkelling tour with Turtle Experience project.
We had our kids with us: a 6-year-old and two 3-year-old. The boat came to pick us up directly on the jetty of the resort we were staying at (The Barath -> family rooms are great). It was late because they had a problem with the boat, but we had the hotel reception calling the Turtle Project and they confirmed that they were coming. And they did!
First stop was Turtle Beach, where there is a turtle hatchery. The water and the beach are stunning there. The waves were a bit too big for the boat the let us on the beach. We had to swim to be able to reach the hatchery, but it was definitely well-worth it! Being able to see eggs and touch the baby turtles!
The rest of the snorkelling tour was also very good but more classical.
Our guide was nice and knowledgeable.
This snorkelling trip was one of the highlights of our trip to Malaysia.
