- Ezwan Shah NordinKuala Terengganu, Malaysia60 contributionsTips of Redang Island1. Hello to travelers, I know everybody got a lot planned this year but we must be delayed and waiting COVID 19 be ended on new year. So the topic relates to my first trip to the islands of Terengganu. I choose to travel to Redang Island and explore then I will share it. 2. Firstly, Redang Island is located in Kuala Nerus District and you have two options to come here via boat at Merang Jetty (not Marang Jetty) or Kuala Terengganu Jetty. But I suggest foreigners use public transport via Kuala Terengganu Jetty to go to Redang Islands. 3. If you use your own transport you can directly go to Merang Jetty and pay for parking your cars/motorcycles (safety). Next, Redang Island also has a trip day. For example, I recommend your planned stay around Merang Jetty / Sutra Beach Resort and take the day trip with travel agencies (more cheap). 4. Secondly, accommodation at Redang Islands has several choices from low price to luxury hotel depending on your expenses. I always promote apps to search for accommodation from Booking.com, Trivago and Agoda. 5. Thirdly, the activities in Redang Island were dependent on travelers because it is also suitable for family vacations, honeymoon or friends reunion. Usually, I really recommend snorkelling activity and please visit Pasir Bujang (Sand Shelf). 6. Next, food and beverages at Redang Island were a little bit expensive and I highly recommend bringing some food such as bread, mineral water, candy or noodles (Magi). But you can enjoy BBQ tonight because it is so fresh and cheap. 7. Besides that, the weather at the island is so hot and drying then please wear a sunblock either physical/ chemical but make sure no harm to our marine life. Drink more water before and after activity. 8. Lastly, we must be good travelers to protect our environment. For example, don't litter anywhere and throw it into the sea (If I do that with you, I throw you into the sea). Also, we did snorkelling and saw the rubbish/plastic please collect that for marine life. Thank you, if you have any questions, please message and comment below.Visited March 2020Travelled with familyWritten 3 December 2020
- Steven SPattaya, Thailand681 contributionsLimited infrastructureFirstly, bring enough cash with you as there are no ATMs on the island. The majority of tourists ( mainly Malaysians) stay at resorts lining the full length of Long beach so expect it to be crowded. There is only one main road which runs between Kampung jetty at Redang Island Resort and Teluk Dalam beach. Visitors to Long beach arrive at different point along the beach. Teluk Dalam (public) beach is a nice beach with no resorts, only beach vendors selling food & drinks. Safe beach for swimming. Long beach is wall to wall resorts. The beach is actually two beaches connected by sand. Nice clean beach and family friendly with many restaurants to choose from. Many places to hire snorkel gear, fins and vests. Shared snorkel trips are reasonably priced. Be warned though that the taxi boats are very very expensive eg a 15 minute ride from Long beach back to Redang Island Resort cost me MYR100. They must be the wealthiest boat owners in Malaysia. For souvenirs visit More More Tin Inn at Long beach.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 28 August 2023
- EmiliyasashevaVienna, Austria42 contributionsAmazing beachThe beach is amazing, white sand and amazing colour of the water. You can snorkel and see a lot of fish and corrals. If you have luck you can see turtles and baby sharks. I strongly recommend to visit the island.Visited February 2020Written 16 February 2020

This island is very stunning and spectacular... truly proud to have this island belong to Malaysia.. the beach is clean and well maintain, and not over exploited... only one or two stretch of this island is use as commercial purposes
The beach is definitely top class, you can even snork around the beach and so many fish and all other small marine life near by...
The island does got few resort, and some food restaurant and two small convenience store...
But the real fun is the scene is so pictureseque you can sit down whole day and night just to enjoy pure fun... worry free...
There arent many sea sport available here, due to the marine protection ... but alternative ATV experience is available for those seeking more adventurous activity on the island...
Enjoy... definitely worth a visit for every one

As a getaway from reality or for keen snorkellers or divers, this is an ideal spot. It's about a 40 minute transfer from the mainland.

The COVID epidemic had driven Malaysians here in truckloads. The main tourist stretch is Long Beach (Pasir Panjang) which I can foresee getting pretty full during peak season.
Water is very clear in most places, and the devastation of plastic bottles and litter has not reached the proportions of many other beaches, fortunately.
The "off-peak" seasons would be Feb-Mar and Sept-Oct, when the weather is slightly less reliable but the crowds will be much less. The beauty of the underwater world isn't much affected by a little rain, in any case.
Transport is a hassle. No Uber, Grab or taxis. Ask at your resort or local restaurants for help. The two places you may want to access are the main Redang jetty (some tours only depart from here) or other beaches in Redang. You can cross jungle with a guide to get there, in some cases. Redang is only 7km wide.
Definitely worth a visit, but if you need space and privacy, plan and research carefully, unless you're not bothered by crowds.

The year of 2020 is truly a year of domestic travel and most resorts with beaches are full. It is pretty easy to access with and good for solo travelers like me who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle

The northern beach is a private beach from the Taaras resort. The other ones are public. The northern one is better though.

Hello. Is it possible to change money and use card on Redang or only use cash? Are there any massages places for reasonable prices or only hotels spa?
Paoletta

Hi! Most places accept credit cards (restaurants or markets); small café or shops might only accept cash, but they are a few. Activities on the beach (tours, food) generally accept only cash.
At the Laguna Island Resort (at the very end of long beach, where the turtle release is happening every afternoon) you can have cash in return by swiping your credit card, they just charge you a fee (I don't remember if 10 or 15 %). A good solution if you run out of money.
We were worried about the amount of cash money to bring, but we had no problems at all!

Ciao! Rispondo un po' tardi, ma se può ancora esserti utile:
- evita assolutamente il Redang Paradise Resort, è l'unico economico su long beach ma fidati, guarda le recensioni e capirai (la mia recensione ha anche le foto. Non quelle dei ragni enormi che infestano il soffitto perché scappano via troppo velocemente);
