We came here for a romantic sunset that did not disappoint. The beach was crowded, as it was Semana Santa, and a little dirty. This should not be too common. As far as beaches are concerned, we vastly preferred playas Santo Domingo, San Fernando, and Santa Cruz on the other side of the island.

Even with the water high, this is still a great place to take in an amazing sunset! I highly recommend if you come to Ometepe, come here for an evening picnic!!!

I've saw photos of this sand bar and it stretches like 1 km out into the lake, but we were pretty much walking on watery sand or water to about as far as you could walk before it got deep, but let me remind you, I went in December, right after rainy season but on the walk back you get... More

This point is famous for a very long sand bar - named Punto Jesus Maria - in the spirit of Jesus walking on water. Your hotel can help you understand the tide flow, then head there were the tide is low to walk far, turn around, and take in breathtaking views of volcano Conception. There is a small beach with... We rented bikes from our hotel and pedaled down to Punta Jesus Maria. The bike ride is fine especially through the tree covered sandy side road. It's a lovely little place with pretty views and you can get a picture so that it looks like you're walking on water. A nice diversion and totally worth the time and effort.

This little peninsula offers beautiful views of Ometepe volcanos, and of the lake - especially when the sun is setting. Easily accessible from Moyogalpa by bike and cheap to enter, it is well worth taking a visit! There is also a little cafe there if you want to stay for longer

Super cool sandbar going perpendicular from the shore out into the lake. It functions as a beach and is also a really great walking and photo opportunity if not crowded. Absolutely worth a visit.
