We met David while staying at hospedaje central in Moygalpa (the best place to stay!) He is the best tourguide you will find on the Island! Friendly and you know you will have a laugh and learn a lot! When you are at the harbour go to the UGO office and ask for David or call him at: 86492548

Clouds are usually present over the top of the volcano making for some interesting pictures. You can get many views of the volcano from just about anywhere on the Isla.

The hike to the top of the Volcano will probably be one of the most challenging things a person will do but it sure gives a feeling of accomplishment. The 1,500 meter trek takes 4 and 1/2 hours to the top and about 3 and 1/2 hours down again so it is a full day.Until you get above the tree line(where... The Volcan Concepcion is a must do when at Isla de Ometepe. There used to be three trails going up the volcano (2 starting near Moyogalpa and 1 near Altagracia). I did the relatively new trail starting from te road between San José and Santa Domingo. Take a local guide!!!! Although that I am in a pretty good shape the... More

Did a small group hike with a guide (who was excellent and friendly, helped make the whole experience great). Awesome experience, beautiful scenery with changing conditions at different altitudes. The step rocks can be very slippery so must wear proper footwear. Will be hot, but then need to pack jacket as we got caught in a brief shower near the... More

A friendly guide, we eat at SantoDomingo beach, swimm in the ojo de Agua, take a small walk in the jungle at Charca verde, and see de Nicaragua lake and the Island volcanos, and excellent day.

Tough day hike. Can't see crater from the top but lovely views from the halfway point. Went with Elmer's tours - highly recommended

We did the trek to the top and although it's hard work, it's definitely doable and worth the effort. We went with Ometepe Unique Tours (highly recommended) and had Enoch as our guide. He was great! The trek itself is about 10 miles with 1600m of ascent. It took about 8.5 hours (5 up, 3.5 down). It goes through farm... More

This is one of the hardest hikes i've ever done. You have to go with a guide because too many tourists had died without one. It takes hours and it's of course literally all uphill. The challenging part is finding a day when there's no cloud cover at the top. If you do find that day than you'll get an... More

We took the hike to the viewpoint of Volcán Concepciòn and saw both howler monkeys and white headed monkeys, as well as other animals like a variety of birds. (Even a small Boa Constrictor currently feeding on a much larger-sized bird!) The day we hiked was very cloudy which led us to see nothing but clouds from the viewpoint -... More
