After reading all the reviews, watching several documentaries, and purchasing a West African bird book, the experience was just ok. We might have seen 10 species. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a boat to fill up. There was one boat full of tourists who got stranded as their motor died. Perhaps this was not the best time... More

This national park is a World Heritage site. A massive sanctuary on the Senegal River for more than 50 species of birds in a wetland which is surrounded by streams, backwaters and ponds. Getting There: If coming from Dakar, it is a very long (almost 5 hours) drive. It can be done in one very long day, but an overnight... More

We were fortunate to be at Djoudj during the time when the pelicans come to hatch their eggs and there ware hundreds of them in the water, as well as hundreds of baby pelicans. Our boat was surrounded on both sides by pelicans and we saw them take off, search for fish and hang out. There is also an amazing... More

It's well worth taking a boat trip in the park to admire the sheer numbers and variety of birdlife. The thousands of pelicans on their breeding island was quite a sight (and smell!)

The park is really beautiful and if you have good gide he will point you all interesting birds and take you to walk and go around to see them all. They will also show you other interesting anomals like crocodiles, pytons and similar.

We saw in the region of 50 bird species on our trip here. Most of them in the drive in. The boat trip was very relaxing and a nice way to spend the morning. The highlight was seeing the pelicans fishing together. We also saw a jackal and lots of warthogs on the way. Well worth a visit. Would like... More

It was more of a "boat" ride than an actual park visit. It was a bit expensive for what it was but we had a good time.

Quite long trip to go there with more than half on tracks. Even with some track practice habit and driving quite fast, it took me one hour. Boats are large enough for groups but they wait to get them really full even trying to split groups ... So very long wait there. At last you are on the way and... More
