If you want to visit the coral reef and want to snorkel I would suggest that you have done that before going here. This was the first time snorkeling for me and I could not enjoy it as much as I would have if I known how to. But if you know how to snorkle or dive I guess this... More

Would like an official view on what is happening here with these turtles, is it sustainable ? Too many people, not enough supervision here, people touching turtles and touching them under its shell, what are people thinking? Yes enjoy observing them, but NOT crowding and mailing them, was quite horrified one afternoon when crowds of people there.

Yea the coral is dead, the fish are barely around. Beach area is nice enough. The coral itself is located a short boat hop from the beach and it's just a bunch of rocks, not an island. Don't recommend.

We rented masks, tubes and fins from international diving school for 5$/person. The coral area is locationed in front of a big hotel, water level was low so it was really easy for every age! We saw a lot of different fish and a turtle. The coral itself is dead, pretty much the whole west coast is damaged but we... More

The entire corals are bleached and dead except a few trying to recover .. very very few places we could see some live corals ... theres no signs of any action taken ... atleast a part of the area should be protected and help corals recover You could watch good fish ... a lot of them and in big groups....... If you are planning to go on a boat ride to see corals and fish, should go direct to the wild life /marine life operated place, where the big board is located (IT SHOULD BE MADE VISIBLE TO TRAVELLERS FACING THE MAIN ROAD CLEARLY). so first time travellers get caught to these touts and small hotels around that area. Hotel... More

it was nice to snorkle around for a bit (near the beach) and mainly see lots of fishes. you can see the coral is recovering but most of it is dead. therefore not the best snorkling spot. we brought our own snorkles but there are lots of places renting out snorkling gear so no need to bring your own. we... There are plenty of colorful fish in the shallow water - very good for small kids. The corals are however destroyed. Down the beach you can meet 2-3 large sea turtles. There are a lot of hazzlers but it is still a must see

Bunch of people waiting for catching coral visitors.each of the boat having different prices varying 2000-3500 LKR for 20-30 minutes ride to the coral sanctuary They are not providing LIfe jackets unless you request, some times they ask separate fee for the life jackets. Standard rate is 1500-2000 LKR with the life jackets.

Little being done to educate people. Too small an area. Over all a lot more can be done and should be done
