Hauz Khas village was known in the medieval period for the amazing buildings built around a reservoir and drew a large congregation of Islamic scholars and students to the Madrasa for Islamic education. Today, some of India's most prestigious institutes are situated in the neighborhood, including the Indian Institute of Technology, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The village itself retains its old-world charm, enhanced by well-manicured green parks planted with ornamental trees all around with walk ways, and surrounded by gentrified market and residential complexes which have sprung up around the old village. The reservoir itself has been reduced in size and well landscaped with water fountains. The village structure that existed in the medieval period was modernized in mid-1980s, projecting a quiet, upscale identity that attracts tourists from all parts of the world.

Hauz Khaz Village houses a lot of bars and restaurants and is jam packed on weekends. If you are driving down , getting out post closing hours can be very tedious, but nevertheless a superb place to be

It’s quite popular place giving you glimpse of remains from Mughal history and has plenty of greenry and a lake too. Most of the times , it remains crowded with people , mostly youngsters like college students .There are lot of pubs, restaurants and plenty of shops which are added attraction for people. Best time to visit is late afternoons... More

From afternoon, evening or late night this is a happening place in New Delhi. There are numerous restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, night clubs with live bands and dancing and many many "one of a kind" interesting shops. There is even a Starbucks! Some of the pubs have roof top patios which make for a great & friendly place to have a... More

this was a fun place. we walked through the modern village that is set-up like a high-rise city, and then wandered through the ruins behind. there are no cars allowed inside- you either park in the lot or ride up on a tuktuk (or walk, but it is a bit of a hike from the metro). we ate at social,... This is a serious happening place. We went to restaurant called Social chhat(Terrace) restaurant and it was simply brilliant experience. Once can go as a family or corporate. The design , ambience seating area are so NOT modern yet attractive and comfort. Sitting under blue open sky on Mattress with cushions, wooden tables and simple yet warm decor is an... More

This is a fun, happening area in Delhi with shops, restaurants, cafes. When we were there lots of people were out and about on the streets taking in the action. Enjoyed hanging out there with my daughter shopping and dining in some fun restaurants. Lively atmosphere!

I've been to this location a few times. When there are no crowds here it is a great place to walk and explore. When there are crowds its not as nice. The crowds consist of college or high school aged kids snuggling with their significant other. Its distracting from the history of the place as well as the overall ambiance.... More

If only passing through, to or from the airport, stay here not in a modern concrete block. Only 30 mins in a taxi from airport even in the appalling Delhi traffic. This is an Indian gentleman's home he is willing to share with you. Only five rooms. Having been let down by my travel agent he was able to arrange taxi... More
