Hauz Khas village was known in the medieval period for the amazing buildings built around a reservoir and drew a large congregation of Islamic scholars and students to the Madrasa for Islamic education. Today, some of India's most prestigious institutes are situated in the neighborhood, including the Indian Institute of Technology, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. The village itself retains its old-world charm, enhanced by well-manicured green parks planted with ornamental trees all around with walk ways, and surrounded by gentrified market and residential complexes which have sprung up around the old village. The reservoir itself has been reduced in size and well landscaped with water fountains. The village structure that existed in the medieval period was modernized in mid-1980s, projecting a quiet, upscale identity that attracts tourists from all parts of the world.

Access is easier from the outer ring road, there's more traffic to this marketplace in the evening. Those monuments around the village are cute, but not a must see attraction of Delhi. Rest is all about the pubs, restaurants and shops. The antiques were overpriced...More

Very disorganised area with no signs or shops numbers clearly displayed. Small alley ways full of shops and you could get most things like antiques, curios, posters etc..Bargain for everything as they price is so high for anything here.

Hauz khas is too hyped. It has few good pubs. The Lane is really dirty. The fort is also not well maintained. Some pubs are really expensive

I think plan on spending at least 3 hours there. If you are going out to a restaurant you may stay longer than that. It's a great place to walk around. Very lively scene!

No. We didn't have reservations at any of the restaurants we went to. There may be a short wait if they are busy.

Hey Siddharth, it seems to be a safe place but be diligent! Usually it's crowded so should be a problem. I have no idea about pubs though. Apologies!
