For the best views of shimla take the sky rope/cable car to the temple as the views of shimla are stunning. The views from the top are restricted because of the trees. The temple itself is quite small but interesting the large monkey statue Is impressive, watch out for the monkeys up here thought they can get quite aggressive . worth a visit for the views though.

Jakhu Temple is an ancient Hanuman Temple located in Shimla. We took a cab to visit the temple, not the ropeway. Some development work in under progress near temple stairs, after whose completion access to the temple shall be easier.

We visited the Temple this week and it was a great experience. The life size statue of Hanuman and the little temple are obviously great and worth the experience. We walked all the way to the doorway office but we’re told it wasn’t working and due maintainence which was a great disappointment - their website didn’t state anything of the sort on the day and really unprofessional of the officials to not update the status of the ripe way there to save everyone time and effort. We ended up taking our own car there and it’s a 30mins drive from main Shimla, thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommend the site.

A scenic location and a bit of a drive to reach. Some steep steps to climb to reach the temple and statue. Be prepared to be greeted by the resident monkeys - advised not to make eye contact and not wear glasses as the monkeys might steal them. The statue is impressive and colorful. The temple is a place of Hindu worship and all are welcome to enter - take shoes off. Allow about 30 mins minimum for visit - some beggars as you climb up.

Perfect Place it is not accessible by road hence it is clean and clear. Easily reachable by Rop e way or Trekking both the option are good I have chosen Rope way because did not have enough time but personally I would prefer Trekking.
Beware of Monkeys they will take anything from you from your pocket, bags or even your Spex or Goggle and if you want to get it back you need to give them something to eat.
They will have your things taken even without you knowing it. One of monkey took my Spex from jumping on my shoulder and I come to know when my Spex was in his hand.
Must Visit Place whenever you are in Shimla.

Beware of monkeys. They have special skills to snatch your spectacles and upon providing some food, they will drop off your spectacles.

Is it possible to visit in Dec and is it safe for children

Local people traditionally visit Jakhoo in winter. It is the highest point in Shimla hills so most likely to have snowfall. People who like to see or play in snow go there in Jan-Feb. The walk up is steep but should be easy. Monkeys is a permanent problem in and around the temple, has always been since i was a child but who can argue with faith.

How we travel in rope way. ? How much distance cover by it and what is the cost.

you have to go behind the church on the ridge and take a level walk for about 15 min and then the rope way takes you to the top. iew is good from the ropeway though it is quite expensive especially if you are traveling with a whole family. A taxi may be cheaper. the cheapest is a state transport bus which runs between the ridge and Jakhoo. the most pleasant way of course if to trek. especially if there is a little snow but be careful of slipping in the road.
