Fabulous tour with Storytrails

Had a food tour in Chennai around George Town with Storytrails. The tour guide Lakshmi was so interesting and knowledgeable - about the food, culture and answering all our questions too! The food was delicious and overall it was simply great fun. One of our highlights visiting Chennai. Definitely recommend to others.

Our host, Lakshimi pays great attention to her guests and makes sure everyone is comfortable. All details are cared for, and she is very aware of the details in the temples and churches and able to show them to the tourists.

Great tour!

Lakshmi was a great storyteller. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. She brought a lot of passion and explained both historical context and current events and made it a memorable experience

Thanks again !!

We just got back from a visit to Georgetown and really had a great time. Lots of clear detailed information about everything and it was really funny.
I definitely recommend it if you want to discover a typical Chennai neighborhood and really immerse yourself in Indian culture.

Truly the best tour

This was the best tour I have ever taken. Lakshmi was engaging, kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. The food was amazing - a wide variety served in local businesses. On top of that, Lakshmi pointed out the beautiful buildings and traditions all around us. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

Lakshmi is a wonderful and engaging guide, storyteller, and educator about HIndu history, stories, beliefs and practices. Our walking tour included a beautiful temple devoted to Shiva which brought many aspects of Hinduism and South Indian culture alive for us. There was hardly enough time for Lakshmi to share her many stories and explanations about HIndu devotional practices We would love to return for another walk, another site, and more fascinating and enlightening stories.

Excellent walking tour led by the very personable and knowledgeable Lakshmi, who is from Chennai herself. The tour is as much about this area of the city and the people who moved here, as the food. Turns out my partner and I were the first two to take this tour post covid, but there’s nothing to fear except perhaps eating too much excellent street food. This is a properly-run and well-researched outfit, with wireless earpieces included, so you won’t miss a word Lakshmi says.

I am amazed by Lakshmi's tour. She is she knowledgeable, kind, curious, thoughful!
I wish I had more time to attend more trails from Storytrails and Lakshmi. Cannot wait to come back to Chennai and learn more. Also, can't wait for StoryTrails to expand to more countries, e.g. my homecountry, Greece.

Hey Staff of Storytrails, I'll be there tomorrow morning and wondering if you'll be free to capture some captivating, dynamic content to best illustrate the charms of Chennai. I would personally film content based on your preferences and what you like since I don't have any particular places I've decided to see for sure. That being said the irony of it all is that my job involves travelling as I am a flight attendant and I have recently begun vlogging. After a month my employer saw my videos and asked if they could use it on the company intranet to motivate other colleagues to go out and venture in every destination we go to so this would be a good way to advertise your contact details as there is always one set of cabin crew who stay in Chennai every day. Here's my channel so you can get a glimpse of what I do: TheFloydChronicles is the name of my Youtube channel if you want to see how I've collaborated with tour guides before. That being said, I'll be there on the 7th and was wondering if you or someone you know would be available for to creating a dynamic video on what to do if you had one day in Madras. So tell me if you'll be free on that day if you're in Chennai and what and we'll see if we can move forward from there and of course we'll be plugging all your social media links if I'm lucky enough to do this video with you. Hi, My husband and I will be in Chennai on morning of 1st February 2016. We would like to do the bazaar story trail in the morning. Can you tell me 1. how to book, 2. where does it start? 3. is there pick up from our hotel? Thank you. (I haven't booked a hotel yet, but would like a recommendation of a 3-4 star hotel with good service but charm, near where we will be doing the tour, if this is advisable.) Cheers

Hi BombayBlue, Melbourne, Essentially the advice given by Jenchenko (earlier answer) is good. I would like to add that you can speak to Ms. Lakshmi at Storytrails office, and she can offer good advice on which trails you can book for. Her numbers are +91 9884493278 or +91 9940040215. I am a local resident, so I have no first hand experience of staying in the local hotels. But TripAdvisor reviews are good indicators--- you can choose from many value-for-money hotels. There are many taxis available which you can order by phone(Ola, Meru, FastTrack etc) which can take you everywhere--- so do not overly worry about the location. You could try Residency (in T Nagar) GRT (T Nagar) or the Taj-Vivanta Group of hotels, in addition to Radisson Blu. etc etc. If you can speak to the Hotel guys -- That will give you a "feel" about the place. Have a great time in Chennai!
