It has a great collection and a lot to learn, but the upkeep is bad and that makes the displays unattractive. In the age of modernisation, the museum has miles to go and being located centrally in Darjeeling I guess investment on it would be worth every penny.

Great place to visit. It was crowded with noisy children when I was there.. would have appreciated some sort of silence but other than that I would recommend a visit. The museum is located inside the zoo.

Had a good variety of stuffed animals and nice new building with easy to follow directions around the place. Is inside the zoo, but wouldn't make a special trip to go there.

The Bengal Natural History Museum is a nice museum for nature lovers, situated near HMI, in Darjeeling. This museum contains an extensive collection of Himalayan and Bengali flora and fauna, including rare reptiles, birds and animals. It is a nice place to visit with children.

This was our fourth time at Darjeeling Zoo but the first time we'd seen the natural history museum. I suspect it's only recently reopened in its current location. My husband said it reminded him of a zoo he went to when he was a kid and the boy scouts all went on a day trip. One of the kids with... More

Nice museum. Newly built complex. Very informative about the birds and insects. Models of various migratory birds and insects are shown. Must have guide to understand these. Worth visit for a hr. Located inside the zoo.

On exhibition are the flora and fauna of the hills and terrai region. Not much of maintenance as with all government maintained institutions. You will be lucky if your guide brings you here.

This is remarkably very well maintained Natural History Museum. It has every possible species of reptiles, butterflies, snakes, birds and animals all stuffed and well preserved. Very enlightening experience and good knowledge to children. Must Visit.

It was closed when we came here last week. But we had visited it in May last year too. It has a very nice collection of butterflies and insects. Here are lost of dead stuffed animals. Unfortunately, the maintenance is a bit low, and everything is covered in dust.
