Only the name DHR, steam engines and the railway stations are of the British raj era. Old wooden coaches and rail sleepers have been replaced by iron. Whistling and chucking steam engine gives the vintage feel. Pricey compulsory round trip@ 1100 per person for steam engine ride and 630 for diesel. Steam engine ride is still worthy considering its heritage... More

We had a ride on 26th of Dec which is called "Joy Ride". It was pulled by steam engine with the nostalgic whistle and sound. The track at some place especially in Batasiya loop is awesome. But there is a huge chance to rennovation the whole affair. The train and the car go in the same route. So no new... More

The Darjeeling Toy Train ride is a good one and showing the heritage of toy train. There is still place for improvement as the stoppage time at Batasia Loop should be increased as the 10 min time given to passengers is very less.

Toy train journey is one of the most exciting attractions of Darjeeling...Although the steam version is pretty slow and the train line is alongside the main road of Darjeeling, hence nothing new to view from the train that you can't view from the car itself, yet if you have a 3-4 days time to visit the whole Darjeeling city gradually,... We took this newly introduced heritage train journey pulled by steam engine at a cost of 1100 bucks each. It's 2 hours affair from Darjeeling to Ghoom and back via Batasia loop. In regular intervals this train runs till late in the evening. Because of the steep price the reservation is easily available. It is a fun ride, lots of... More

When you are in Darjeeling this is a fun thing to do. The toy train will give you fantastic views of mountains, tea garden, local villagers plying their wares. You can take a shorter circuit or do the entire 88kms ride from New Jaipaiguri Station to Darjeeling, leaving at 8:30 am

Although there's not much interesting in it, yet this heritage attraction still attracts tourists for rides.
