I did not travel in the Toy train. But had the view from Bhatasia Loop, Ghum and Darjeeling station. Between Ghum to Darjeeling, at many places the rail and road run in parallel and in many places the train crosses the road. Watching the steam loco pulling the 3-4 coaches along the mountains is a great view.

Darjeeling Toy train ride gives us an opportunity to experience and live a piece of history !!! The train was up n running in 1881 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The original route was about 80 kms full of loops, curves, etc and was from Siliguri to Darjeeling. The train is run under the banner of Darjeeling... More

Was a little disappointed with this UNESCO Heritage site. The small hill train goes through the narrow streets of Darjeeling along with other vehicular traffic. More than the scenic views, one can see the garbage dumps everywhere, which is really sad. The train stops for 10 minutes at Batasia Loop which is the saving grace. Even though we had two... More

A ride in the Darjeeling toy train was a must on our itineray...but sad to say it did not come up to our expectations. The station was dirty and cleanliness in the train too needs to be upgraded. Most of the areas it crosses are heavily congested part of the town apart from the Batista loop . Unfortunately it started... More

We were overjoyed about the idea of a toy train when we reached Darjeeling. Also did read about it that its a UNESCO heritage site which made us all the more enthu for a ride. Well all that glitters is not gold. The station is right in the middle, well cant blame that. But given the fact that its a... More

The train takes you through a route, which is dirty and not at all scenic. the tourism department/govt has wasted a great opportunity instead of creating a great route with scenic beauty, all u see is unplanned development. Also the train whistle was to be used continously, making it annoying and also the coal particles keep coming in boogie, where... More

We holidayed in Darjeeling in the last week of March 2016. Its a wonderful place with wonderful people all around. U will never find them fighting or abusing. As we were moving around this wonder place, suddenly we heard the hooting of steam toy train. We had scheduled a ride anyway after 2 days. But the sight of the steam... More
