Those interested in climbing or mountaineering could easily spend 2 hours in the museum - which happens to be next to the excellent zoo.

Being a bit of a 8000m peak nerd I loved this place and the fact they had not only some of Tenzings kit from 53 but also actual relics from Mallory's expedition in the 20s.

Bit of a hike to access but it is a real mountaineering place. Located inside the zoo at the far end of town. Well worth the walk to find it and see all the displays.

It is very informative. You can see all the equipment used especially in Mt. Everest expeditions. Lot of photgraphs and documents are on display, Photograph of Sherpa Tensing Norgay. There is life size statue of him in front. Worth visiting.

HMI is an interesting museum of Mountaineering which preserves and speaks about old mountaineering expeditions especially about Mount Everest Expedition by Sir E Hillary and Tenzing Norgay since early 20th century. This is a must visit place for Mountaineers and Trekkers.

We walked through Darjeeling to this exhibition which is on the same site as the zoo. The exhibition and museum is very interesting, holding masses of equipment and historical detail.
