While on Dauphin Island, had heard about Fort Morgan, which to drive there would be over 2 hours. However, you could catch the Ferry and be there in 40 minutes. Sounded like a plan to me. The ferry staff were nice and well groomed. From...More

Why drive all the way around a bay, when it's more fun and scenic to take a ferry? Sure, it's not cheap, but you're saving gas instead of driving around the bay. It was running about 15 mins late today, but at the Dauphin island...More

If you want to get to Dauphin Island from Fort Morgan this is much quicker than driving all the way around Mobile Bay. The ferry was on schedule and we arrived safely with no issues both times. I do feel the fare is a bit...More

$18 per vehicle and then $6 extra per passenger!? That is crazy! How can a family afford that. We could not justify it.

We are local so enjoy taking the ferry often. Simple drive on drive off but great view of the bay. We bought a new harley so of course she wanted a boat ride

If you want to get from Gulf Shores to Dauphin Island, take the ferry. If you are near the beach, you'll save an hour, at least, in traffic. Allow at least 30 minutes to get to the landing from highway 59. Then just sit back...More

We took the ferry one way just because we had never been on a ferry boat. We saw lots of dolphins that followed us the entire trip. Passed and oil rig tool. Very enjoyable trip and experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our round trip ride to Dauphin Island. It was a relaxing and fun way to travel, with pretty views of the bay, that lovely feeling of sea air, and pelicans and seagulls joining us for parts of the ride.

That would really depend on the proximity of your originating point to I-10. If you're coming from the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area, it's a total time saver. If you're coming from somewhere along I-10, probably not.

With my experience, the wait time was longer returning from Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan. This was an early afternoon ferry so that may have been the cause of the delay. Either way I would suggest allowing for plenty of... More
