Great summer attraction

We went here for vacation and spent sometime watching the fishermen as well as looking down at the fish swimming around the pier. We even ate BBQ on the pier one afternoon.

The pier has been rebuilt after hurricanes destroyed the old one. You can go out a distance for free and then all of the way for $3.00. Military personnel, current or former are admitted free. Resident Pelicans will let you walk right up to them for a photo op. it's a beautiful walk out with rest benches along the way.... More

It was well worth the admission to get to use this pier! The fishing is very good. Our favorite on the pier was Sam, the local pelican! He was such a beggar and posed for pictures perfectly!

The fishing pier was fun to visit. Fisherman were catching fish from the pier which the heron were hoping to get. There's a place to clean your catch. The bathrooms were clean and the park rangers were friendly. The pier has been rebuilt since a hurricane took it out several years ago. It's longer than the previous one.

A long pier out into the gulf. We enjoyed seeing a couple fishermen land a fish as we walked back. We probably just stayed about an hour, and it costs three dollars (except veterans are complementary). We enjoyed reading some historical facts about it. Then we walked on the beach near the pier afterwards.

We were going to skip walking this pier, but in the end decided to do it, and I'm so glad we did. Yes, it's filled with fishermen, but it's interesting just to watch them. Also, midway on the pier is a building with restrooms and a fish cleaning station, and the pelicans hang out there all the time. Amazingly, these... More

This pier is reportedly the longest pier on the Gulf Coast, nearly 1/4 mile in length. Today was clear and beautiful, in the low 70's. Plenty of sea bird watching and the fishermen and women were out in force but, when asked, not one had caught any fish. One woman told us this isn't a good time of year to... More

This pier is endless! The second half of the structure is designed for fisherman, which requires a fee. There is a an open picnic area and restrooms for no fee located on the beginning of the pier under a roof just before the entrance fee part. There was no parking fee, so we spent time on the beach beside the... More

Walked the Pier this morning. Nice walk and great view. Talked to some fisherman and seen one gentleman catch a fish. $3.00 per person to get in, not a bad price for a state Pier.

My husband and brother spent their day fishing. My sister and I rode our bikes there and really enjoyed our day. We enjoyed talking to locals, watching fish ( shark too ) get caught, and the view of the shoreline was a plus. My husband and brother bought poles & tackle at Walmart so they could also fish off the... More
