It was such a joy to spend warm & sunny winter days in this special part of Alabama. The sunsets on the beach were breath takers and the Blue Herons & Pelicans added life to the still photos. We found the hiking trails to be perfect for enjoying the scrub oaks & Spanish Moss, Palmettos, winter blooming wildflowers as well... More

This is the only area of the birding trail that I have been to, but it is very nice and secluded. I walked the Pine Beach Trail from Fort Morgan Road to the beach and could see no one for miles. Saw lots of birds but I am not an expert regarding breeding seasons and when the best time might... More

It depends upon the time of the year, but we have seen a variety of birds. And some where life birds for us. On State Road #2 we have seen and photographed as many as 6 Osprey on different trees. Great Blues and Royal Terns. You just never know what you will see till you try !!!

I visited this birding spot with my husband a few weeks ago. We tried to catch the ferry early to beat the heat. Even at 10:00 a.m. we were sweating the whole walk. Anyway, we came prepared with sunscreen, water, and bug spray. The bug spray really wasn't needed. We saw two Osprey, a purple martin, and some sort of... More

Stop at the visitor's center for a map and then drive to the trail head parking areas. Varied habitat, well maintained trails, with occasional amenities. We especially enjoyed the elevated platform structure at the edge of the woods.

While spending a month in Orange Beach stopped at various Coastal Birding Trail spots. The signs for Coastal Birding along with stop numbers made it fun and interesting. The stops covered a variety of habitats. Since we were there in February we only noted about10 or 12 different birds.
