My daughter loved this place. Chaperoned a field trip here and the kids loved it. Lots to see and do for kids at or over 7. My daughter loved trying to make butter and yarn, and seeing exactly how people lived then.

What a beautiful spot. Loved the yarn-bombs around trees on the way up. Walking trails are even and well groomed.

The museum alone is worth the trip up and the views are stunning of the history facile valley but today's outing was wonderful. The historical demonstrations they do are well done, the exhibits are good and the reenactora are engaging and knowledgeable. Today we saw sheep shorn, wool cleaned, weaving etc. the children there seemed enthralled and the museum does... More

Burritt on the Mountain is a well-curated look into Alabama and the South's history and the views of Huntsville are unbeatable. It was a lot more engaging than I expected and the staff there is phenomenal. They were all so warm, personable and friendly and proactively walked around with us to give us personalized tours of the mansion and the... More

One of Huntsville's well kept secrets. Burritt on the Mountain provides tranquil settings for gazing across the valley and Huntsville City. Bring a picnic lunch and set up at any of the picnic tables spread around the grounds. So much history contained in such a small area on top the mountain. The mansion is filled with history and artifacts that... More

The mansion was quite interesting - the docent quite well informed and friendely, but the other buildings were fascinating. I really liked seeing the way a family could set up a one room building and have space for everything without seeming crowded. There were play areas for children to work off excess energy and plenty to keep children of most... More

I had a group at the Sanders Family Christmas at Burritt on the Mountain in Huntsville on Dec. 16 and it was a wonderful event. They were highly entertaining. The music and drama were both outstanding. Well worth seeing!

I grew up visiting in the 80s and 90s and my sister even got married there, so my love affair with the Burritt is long and strong. The road leading to Burritt is winding and beautiful, albeit a bit narrow. The park at the top of the mountain is well run and gated (great for those with small children). Sidewalks... More
