The self guided tour of Twickenham is fabulous. Maps are available - I wouldn't recommend walking without a map. Each home has a bit of history written on the map and many homes have plaques near the sidewalk to identify its name and history. The homes are all privately owned and one cannot tour inside but the outsides are awesome.

As a "nonbeliever" (in ghosts), the knowledgeable and animated guide (sorry forgot his name... sheriff's dept by day, paranormal investigations team at night... Kevin maybe?) drew me in! There was a fun ghost radar app for phones, recommended at the start of the tour, and the blips on my screen added to the spookiness. Aside from that, the guide had... More

All the Homes in this Historical district are beautiful. Each historical home has a plaque I'm front of it. I wished there was a map to help people drive the area on their own. I will definitely return to the area for a revisit with my camera. It is close to the cities center with a lot amenities and live... More

For anyone who wants to live in the city center, Twickenham is the place to be. Walk to everything you need within blocks. Quaint but with all modern conveniences. Shopping, restaurants, Publix. One block from the best Hospital, 3 blocks from banks. I don't live there but wish I did. I go often to shop or enjoy the varied dining... More

So much history. Not just Alabama either. It is a large, very old and beautiful cemetery. The main point for land surveys in Alabama is located in this cemetery.

There's an app that can guide you through the neighborhood giving you the history on certain homes and landmarks very close to downtown. Since it was so hot we chose to drive but it seems the app works better if you choose to walk it. I realize this is a review for the neighborhood itself, but we found the app... More

We downloaded an app to our phones from the Huntsville Convention Bureau and borrowed some bikes from the hotel and took off to see the town. The audio tour gave us directions to the sites and then gave us a brief run down of the house or building. It was a lovely area and the tour added to our enjoyment.... More

We had a step-on guide and did a tour of the Twickenham Historical District. I have been to Huntsville many times, but never seen all that is in this area of Huntsville. I loved it and the group really liked the homes.

Worth driving through this area. Some of the prettiest neighborhoods I have seen. We went through with a guide, Jackie Reeves of Avalon Tours. Her knowledge of the area made it even more enjoyable.
