I was driving alone to reach this beach. It was a Tuesday afternoon, 1 pm, only a handful visitors. Low tide, wide area of sand dunes. Very windly, as it was going to rain. I couldn't enjoy a peaceful beach amble. Just had a quick photo session and left.

We were pleasantly surprised with our day here. Didn’t expect a lot from the reviews but we had a lovely day. It’s a nice clean strip of beach with plenty to do and eat/ drink. Yes the beach is man-made and you can’t really swim in the water- but we went knowing that so not an issue. The beach was clean and lined with trees for shade. There were stalls on the beach renting out air sofas (RM25) and selling kites, bubbles, buckets spades etc. You could also ride a quad bike/ push bike/ horses. The street is lined with many food and drink stalls. A lovely breeze to keep you cool. Public toilets near the centre of the beach near the car park (RM0.30). A nice place to come to relax on the sand and eat/ drink. Gets very busy with people and traffic in the evening. We didn’t bother visiting the ‘dunes’- maybe this is the source of the poor reviews?

Located near 1 Malaysian square in Malacca. Just an average beach with lots of food options and some activities like horse riding and ATV quad bike riding. There are beach bed chairs available for rent. There is a dedicated space available for 2/4 wheeler parking opposite to the beach.

Don’t waste your time and money to visit here, we did..(.
Nothing here and no proper beach or shade , just some smelly water inland and no scenery also.
When we came it was Ramadan night market that was being prepared to open.
A total disgrace in name of any beach.

We had a fun, relaxing time at this sandy beach and playing under the shade of the trees. We went to the shady areas to get away from the hot sun rays. The water did not look that inviting, so we didn't go in.

The Sand Dunes at the end of the Klebang Peninsula is often confused with Klebang Beach, hence the disparity in ratings by reviewers. The Sand Dunes is located on an unnamed road, off Jalan Klebang Utama (after the Submarine Museum turning).
Stretched out over a vast expanse of reclaimed land, the man-made dunes is a result of many piles of sand left behind by abandoned beachfront projects, from a decade ago.
Just 15 minutes out of Melaka city, Malaysia now has its very own desert!
Due to soil instability, cars are not allowed in. As you walk, the terrain changes from gravel to sand populated with scrubby vegetation and spiky plants. The surreal white desert stretches all the way to the sea, presenting a silhouette of rounded humps along the coastline.
The seafront dunes are bigger, rising 10 to 20 meters high. A desert lake forms just inland of the sea. Trees have sprouted together with a healthy covering of grass on the mounds, adding a dash of green to the pristine white landscape. If you look closely, you will find seashells washed up from the Straits of Malacca.
(Sadly, the sea also washes up a lot of rubbish, marring the beauty of this place)
Climbing up the dunes is a not-to-be-missed experience. You will slide down a little with each step up, as the soft sand shifts under your feet. So expect to work a little bit harder to cover the same amount of ground. The effort is totally worth it for the views and the ‘top of the hill’ feeling.
Getting off the dune is fun and effortless. You will want to climb up the next dune just to savour the invigorating moment again. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
At sunset, you can get dramatic shots of the unique landscape as the sky transitions from orange to red to purple. The cool breeze from the sea keeps the temperature comfortable.
Tip : Klebang Dunes is easily accessible as the terrain is mostly flat. Be prepared to walk 20 – 30 minutes, to cover the 2 km distance each way.
Like a desert, there is no shade so early morning or late afternoon visits are recommended. Bring enough water, a hat and sun block. Head lamps are recommended for the walk back, as there are no street lights at night.
There are no bins, so be sure to take your trash out with you.

I was intrigued by photos of this place after reading Have Halal Will Travel blog on "13 JAW-DROPPING PLACES IN MALAYSIA YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE EXIST". This is a classic case of Instagram vs Reality type situations. Actually the caption was wrong in the way the witches' prophecies to Macbeth weren't untrue. It was "jaw dropping" because the moment I went there, my jaws dropped as to how bad this beach was. I couldn't believe that such an awful beach could attract such huge crowds either. Give it a miss unless you have absolutely nothing better to do but one to take pot shots instagram vs reality photos.

If you love to take plenty photos of yourself and the lallang, here is the place to do that. If you would like to take photos of yourself to the beach, you have to walk much further as the beach is quite a distance from where you park you car

Pantai Klebang was famous in social medias for their sand dunes. Along the beach, it had stalls and food-truck for visitors to eat. And also, the coconut shakes here was superb.

Got a Grab from our hotel in central Malacca (10 RM) and we were glad we made the trip. Interesting to see a man made beach, very peaceful and quite pretty although not your usual beach scene. Had a walk on the rocks and came across a cute little shanty house.

However this place very near the main road & very famous place to enjoy its tasty refreshing Klebang coconut 🌴🥥 shake 🥤😋🤤

Hope my sharing here is helpful to you

What is the purpose and your intention? I am not in favour, as a camp fire usually translates to litter and pollution.
As it is, plastic bottles are everywhere, and I've also seen broken umbrellas, shoes, etc left behind by irresponsible people.
Best to 'take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints'

Are there watersport operators there?
Written 3 August 2018
Hi I’m planning to visit during sunrise, any advise? Or sunset better? Thanks
Written 14 July 2018
Both options are good, though I've never been at sunrise.
It's at least 1 km in before you get to the first dunes, so I would stay on the dirt path and follow it on the way in. You will definitely need a torch / head lamp.
Bring enough water, as it gets hot once the sun is up!
Have Fun!

Hi guys..
-What's the most efficient way to go here for return trip from Stadthuys and around?
-If there are Buses operators, what number is it? And what time the operasional will end of the day?
-Do you guys have recommendations for taxi online applications?
Anyway, because I plan just 1-day in Mallaca.
Thanks in advance.

Bastian

Hi Bastian,
I think you can try Grab Car for this case.
Try search for "Grab Car" and you can have more information from there.
Hope this helps.

By Malacca standard, it is near. But, not walking distance. Around less than 10 km from Malacca Central.

How can I get there if I don't drive a car?
Written 31 July 2016
No choice. Land transport is necessary. You can choose to use taxi or e-hail services to get here
