Nice building and museum with some pretty exhibits
Feb 2020
This museum is housed in the former governors mansion and mainly exhibits gifts and personal belongings of all the former governors or heads of state of Malacca. The museum is well arranged and there’s even a section with biographies of many of the former governors and heads of state. Downstairs, you can see some of the rooms that were used by the governors. The dinner table for entertaining official guests is perfectly laid out and looks nice.

The museum is housed in a nice Dutch Colonial style white building with well tended gardens all around. Entrance to this museum is free as part of the entrance to the Stadthuys Museum complex and is one that is worth visiting if you have time.

I keep thinking of items in this museum
Oct 2019
This placed reeked of corruption and English occupation but was surprisingly interesting. Lots of pictures of Governors and gifts that had been given to them. It was a beautiful old building, not really suited to the climate at all but very grand. We only saw one other person enter here just as we were leaving, so very quiet. It was full of old British era regal paraphernalia but totally out of place was this one sculpture which had no plaque explaining it, see pictures.

Didn't get to go inside as it had closed, but the exterior was worth taking a moment to absorb at least.

We paid 10 MYR per adult for entry to around 5 museums, this one was great. The building is very beautiful and contains plenty of information.

Prestigious building and intimate testimony
Jan 2018 • Solo
Splendid historic house surrounded by a garden on a hill. Formerly used as the official residence of the Dutch Governor of Malacca. Entrance is included in the ticket for History and Ethnography Museum.
The splendid rooms have been kept in their original juice like the reception room with chandeliers and tableware. Wood parquet, personal objects and gifts...the place has a soul and gives unusual information about Malacca's governance.

Beautiful Museum Building
Mar 2017 • Couples
This beautiful building was the home of the Governors of Melaka in bygone times. The building really is beautiful architectural. Nowadays it is a museum and you can learn so much about Melaka history and in fact a wander around will let you see how the Governors lived and the luxury they were surrounded by.

It is actually on the way up to St. Paul's Hill and church so definitely worth a quick look inside.

Very interesting historical museum
Jul 2016 • Family
One of many museums near St Pauls hill and well worth a visit, giving a great insight into the history of Melaka, the ticket gives access to many other nearby museums.
