We realy enjoyed our tour in the night Dez 2019. You defintialy need to got there by night so you can see all the light effects. Melaka gets another look, when it gets dark. You dont see all the broken house fascades and the city starts to shine in a beautiful look.

I would recommend taking the night cruise as they surrounding building , bridges etc. are all colorfully lighted up and you have a better experience strolling down the river. You can also see (and wave) to the people strolling by the riverside or having their drinks/meal at the many outlets along the river. There are few locations in town to take the river cruise, however if you're driving i would advice taking it from Taman Rempah jetty. There are ample parking space and you don't have to worry to find parking space for your vehicle.

It should have been rated very good, but several areas need changing ! For a start the " river" is but a canal which needs a major clean. up . Garbage and debris floated all over and when there's a breeze, the stench can be overpowering . The cruise begins usually on the hour and if you are waiting there are no nice cafes to sit around but for one lone sarabat stall!! Of course if you hop on near the Maritime Museum there are more cafes around. Inspite of all the disadvabtages cited we would recommend the cruise . 30 Ringgit allow you to see the banks of Malacca " river" and catch the riverside life at its busiest and best . Catch the 7pm as lights come on and dusk lends its magic !

It's around 15 minutes one way, then turns around and heads back again. So maybe 30 mins in total, or a shade under. This is doable on foot, of course, but you will miss the lighting under the bridges. Dusk to nightfall is probably the best time. More enlightening commentary that's audible would enhance the experience for some, but I guess the majority of people just want to sit back and watch - which is fine. We were lucky but I could picture the queues getting pretty long at peak times, so arrive early.
